Really!!! Why don’t you two come clean and shout to the Wow World that you are lovers? Especially on Valentine’s Day. Such love in a cold climate can invigorate even the frozen asses of some of us.
Reading the responses after Jeanott’s comments are so comforting and affirming. She is truly someone who has made the best of a very sad situation and I really think we are privileged to know her thoughts and feelings. How wonderful for her to have so many of us who cheer her on and how fortunate for us to have her here. I’m not big on Valentine’s Day––gave that up years ago, but this year, if I could I’d send all of you a big box of chocolate and one red rose with a card that says, From a distant admirer––with love and affection.
We are going to a church “Family Dance.” I’m looking forward to practicing my salsa dancing that I’ve been learning, and the teenagers will be hosts and servers at the dinner. The younger ones will have their own games and activities.
(We’re learning that dancing, especially salsa dancing is very good exercise. Dancing turns out to be the #1 activity that wards off Alzehiemers, more so than brain teazers and other activities.)
This Valentine’s Day will definitely be low key. More than likely it will be dinner at home-myself, my husband and our son. Financially, we are not where we were last year at this time, so no fancy flowers or gifts of jewelry. Just some quality time together.
I don’t know for sure…probably getting the last of the Christmas decorations into the closet.
Mary Wells and I are pretty much on the same page. I don’t even notice valentines day and neither does my hubby. i have a theory that compatible people feel the same way about valentines day! either they think it’s a big deal or they don’t…
although this year we have to go to an industry function that is super formal. oh well…
Oh… and I wanted to tell all the New Yorkers on here that i’ve been telling my dream trip is NYC.. i’m finally going!!!! We “won” (for a bit of cash :) ) two tickets to a Badgley Mischka fashion show. It was a charity auction thing. I’m soooo excited! NYC here I come!!!
It’s just another day to us. Although he will get me a piece of jewelry but it’s always the day before or after..
My husband will cook dinner for me, we’ll open some champagne, curl up on the couch and watch the romantic “chick flick” of my choice. I prefer “Date Nights” at home.
I love Valentine’s Day, I think because it’s a sign off spring and here in northern Minnesota that is a good thing!! But I never do anything really special. Hubby and I exchange cards and a kiss. I am going to make heart shaped cookies for my grandbabies.
Yvonne
I think I am going to make some heart shaped cookies, haven’t done that in years. It’s fun and I need some fun.
I am insisting on a pair of red sunglasses which should take care of valentine’s day, heart month all year and the “oh, so delicate” skin around my brown eyes!!
I am so lucky, our favorite saxophone player, Joel Frahm , is performing nearby and we are going to see him. He gets the most beautiful sound out of the most beautiful instrument, the tenor sax, and he plays my favorite version of my favorite song - “My One and Only Love” (highly recommended & available on iTunes ), although I’m guessing he will play my husband’s favorite song, “My Funny Valentine” in honor of the day. It will be a wonderful start to a romantic evening.
Joel is a big teddy bear of a man and his ballads can bring a tear to your eye. here is a sample -

Love the style and fun of this, “Cheers to Love” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=izt6sT9aJUU
