Candice Bergen to Spend V-Day With Her 'Greatest Romance'

For Valentine’s Day, my husband, who is the world’s greatest romantic, wants to have a long weekend in East Hampton by the fire, which is swell by me.

Liz Smith: A Valentine's Day 'Threesome' With Jane Wagner and Lily Tomlin?

I have my valentines ready. I have a few special valentine gifts for some little and big kids. This is a charming holiday that doesn’t require too much of us and, if we’re lucky, puts us in a receptive happy mood.

Jane Wagner and Lily Tomlin sent me champagne and caviar for my recent birthday and so I am planning a little tête–à–tête with someone who shall be nameless because, at my age, you don’t want people snickering at your romantic inclinations, now, do you?

(Actually I wish I were going to be celebrating with Lily and Jane. A threesome! What a concept.)

Joan Ganz Cooney's 'Fun' Valentine's Day Plans

I’m going to spend Valentine’s Day at our house in Florida with my heart, which is my granddaughter, Chloe, and with her darling siblings and her darling  mother, and with my darling husband. With us, also, will be the two funniest friends we have, so I expect a lot of laughter which is perhaps best of all.

Mary Wells: When's Valentine's Day?

The only holiday I have ever paid attention to is Christmas. I won’t know it is Valentine’s Day. I never did, and the men I have been close to never did either. In my relationships, every day is Valentine’s Day — or nothing.

Marlo Thomas and 'Newlywed' Husband Phil Donahue's Valentine's Day Plans

Phil and I are newlyweds … 28 years. We always do something sweet, alone on Valentine’s Day. We buy each other gifts that are red. He always gives me one of those mushy, red, satin, heart "For My Wife" kind of valentines. And the best thing about Valentine’s Day? It always comes AFTER football season.

Is Joan Juliet Buck 'Hopiland' Bound?

I want to be in Hopiland watching the Bean Dance. Or I may just stay in New York and arrange the long-stemmed yellow roses as they dance through the door.

Judith Martin's Mystery Brooch

We are invited out to dinner, and I will wear my brooch of two hearts tied together with a bow, done in diamonds and rubies. Someone will smilingly ask (because someone always does), "Did your husband give you that?" And I will have to reply, "I really don’t know. I just found it, one night, on my pillow."

Really!!! Why don’t you two come clean and shout to the Wow World that you are lovers? Especially on Valentine’s Day. Such love in a cold climate can invigorate even the frozen asses of some of us. Reading the responses after Jeanott’s comments are so comforting and affirming. She is truly someone who has made the best of a very sad situation and I really think we are privileged to know her thoughts and feelings. How wonderful for her to have so many of us who cheer her on and how fortunate for us to have her here. I’m not big on Valentine’s Day––gave that up years ago, but this year, if I could I’d send all of you a big box of chocolate and one red rose with a card that says, From a distant admirer––with love and affection.

We are going to a church “Family Dance.” I’m looking forward to practicing my salsa dancing that I’ve been learning, and the teenagers will be hosts and servers at the dinner. The younger ones will have their own games and activities. (We’re learning that dancing, especially salsa dancing is very good exercise. Dancing turns out to be the #1 activity that wards off Alzehiemers, more so than brain teazers and other activities.)

This Valentine’s Day will definitely be low key. More than likely it will be dinner at home-myself, my husband and our son. Financially, we are not where we were last year at this time, so no fancy flowers or gifts of jewelry. Just some quality time together.

Mary Wells and I are pretty much on the same page. I don’t even notice valentines day and neither does my hubby. i have a theory that compatible people feel the same way about valentines day! either they think it’s a big deal or they don’t… although this year we have to go to an industry function that is super formal. oh well… Oh… and I wanted to tell all the New Yorkers on here that i’ve been telling my dream trip is NYC.. i’m finally going!!!! We “won” (for a bit of cash :) ) two tickets to a Badgley Mischka fashion show. It was a charity auction thing. I’m soooo excited! NYC here I come!!!

It’s just another day to us. Although he will get me a piece of jewelry but it’s always the day before or after..

My husband will cook dinner for me, we’ll open some champagne, curl up on the couch and watch the romantic “chick flick” of my choice. I prefer “Date Nights” at home.

I love Valentine’s Day, I think because it’s a sign off spring and here in northern Minnesota that is a good thing!! But I never do anything really special. Hubby and I exchange cards and a kiss. I am going to make heart shaped cookies for my grandbabies.

Yvonne I think I am going to make some heart shaped cookies, haven’t done that in years. It’s fun and I need some fun.

I am insisting on a pair of red sunglasses which should take care of valentine’s day, heart month all year and the “oh, so delicate” skin around my brown eyes!!

I am so lucky, our favorite saxophone player, Joel Frahm , is performing nearby and we are going to see him. He gets the most beautiful sound out of the most beautiful instrument, the tenor sax, and he plays my favorite version of my favorite song - “My One and Only Love” (highly recommended & available on iTunes ), although I’m guessing he will play my husband’s favorite song, “My Funny Valentine” in honor of the day. It will be a wonderful start to a romantic evening. Joel is a big teddy bear of a man and his ballads can bring a tear to your eye. here is a sample - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CfHcSTA5Nx8&feature=related
