Dear PJ, rely on a quilter to know comfort. As quilt sis I acknowledge my fabric fetish. I just KNOW there is a fabric you love but just haven’t found the quilt that deserves it
Thank you, Ms. Manners! I have a Mission Oak/Craftsman chair that I sleep in more often that I would admit — “No, No, I’m just resting my eyes!” Flannel nightshirts. I got into the habit because when I was a kid I slept in my grandpa’s nightshirts, and it comforts me. Crew sox. Or nothing, depending.
My birthday suit. I take a shower every night before I go to bed and nothing feels better than bare skin on sheets — be they cotton, silk or flannel. I haven’t worn anything for decades and honestly don’t understand why any adult would. (Disclaimer: I have no children and was a nudist for years in Northern California). Still, I can’t imagine sleeping with a partner in anything other than au naturale. It’s such a deeply primal way of connecting without necessarily becoming sexual. In fact, I’ve usually found that the moment pajamas get introduced into the equation, passion finds a way to slowly dribble out the bedroom door.
I have several soft cotton PJs and night gowns that I wear. I love the feel against my skin. Then I snuggle under my double silk quilt covered with a silk - cotton duvet .
When our schedules permit and my beau and I are lucky enough to spend the nights together… it is skin to skin for us but when I am sleeping alone I either wear one of his Brooks Brothers shirts or flannel pj pants and an oversized sweatshirt in the winter. Summer… T-shirts.
Soft pink nightgown , I have psoriasis and it has to be soft on my skin. When I find the right gown it becomes my one and only till it falls apart. Yet I have a drawer full of others which have not been selected yet!
I sleep nude 99% of the time, can’t stand stuff tangling around me. If it’s really cold, I sleep in something pure cotton and oversized, usually my husband’s old tee shirts.
