Anything from naked to nighties to pajamas (long and short). My fabric and style of choice is fine cotton knits that are baggy, soft on the skin, and cool. The temperature determines the choice most of the time; or what’s lying around from the night before; whether I am going straight to bed or not; or whether I fell asleep in the armchair and spent half the night fully dressed, and the second half naked, having struggled to get into bed without fully waking myself up. Now I am actually thinking about it, I realize that naked is the coolest, most comfortable, and most delicious, with the added advantage of less laundry.
Sleep bare naked! (Have since my teens.) Can’t bear the entanglement of clothing between the sheets. Delight in the softness of skin to skin with my partner.
In the winter, I like to sleep in my blue pajamas from Nordstrom’s. They are the only pj’s that have not shrunk in the dryer! In the summer, I usually sleep nude. It gets hot in my bedroom so it’s out of necessity but it’s also very freeing. Between seasons, I like to wear my hot pink nightshirt from Hawaii.
I sleep in my ten year old graddaughters bed which was putting my hips to sleep until I bought two memory foam mattresses, one for my bed at my house, and one for my granddaughter’s bed. I sleep state to state, and also in a different state of mind each time.
<—-! break—->It is getting better with the warm weather coming here to NY, and NJ. I actually sleep in a cotton nightgown that says, uh…um, lol, something about “I don’t sleep to dream.” which is also a great Fiona Apple song.)
i sleep where there is fresh air in very loose anything made of natural fibers, preferably not touching me,on high count white sheets (my husband and my dog can touch me.)
White cotten panties and a T-shirt. But I worry that if I should die in my sleep, I will be found lookiing like a beached whale, so I keep meaning to get some long nightgowns. Haven’t decided if I care enough to do so or not.
Well, many years ago, my friend, Gail, gave me a pair of 100% Nautica forest-green plaid ‘sleepwear’ pajamas (PJs). Because the cotton is so soft and light, I have worn the bottoms until it has almost totally fallen apart. I leave the top within arm’s reach, if I get chilly. Since menopause, I wear a silky top (actually 100% polyester, V-neck, kind-of cap-sleeved leaving plenty of room underarms, almost knee-length). This top keeps me feeling cool under the covers. Sometimes I wear socks to bed. I keep a black, silky mask within reach, as I am sensitive to morning light. As I have become acoustically sensitive/irritable, and travel a lot, I am considering getting a sound-filtering device of some sort. Any suggestions? Early morning bird-songs, landscapers, garbage trucks, church-bells, etc., wake me up. One night in Sydney someone’s buzz-saw snoring in the next room, kept me up all night. Speaking of snoring, I wear an anti-snoring device, as a courtesy to my husband and anybody within a room or two. After a mastectomy & reconstruction in 1999, I had to sleep on my back for three weeks, and I started snoring. My snoring also interfered w. my own sleep, however odd that sounds. My internist told me about a snoring device (Silent Nite) which keeps one’s mouth open enough to insure mouth-breathing. My dentist took an impression, and a few weeks later I had the device, which reduced my snoring considerably and also helped me sleep better. It lasted about five years, and I need to replace it. My dental bill for the impression and device was $600., but getting a good night’s sleep (& not having to worry about disturbing others) was worth the expense. I’m sure that I’m sharing ‘too much information’, but here is one last fact. I always have slippers at my bedside, especially when traveling, to avoid picking up any bacteria/fungus. I wear rubber sandals when taking a shower in old motels. Enough. Sleep well.
When its -17 degrees outside my house, I wear my “Arctic” underwear, plus socks, plus a heavy sweatshirt and sleep under three layers of down comforters. (I don’t have central heating.) But in the summers I wear nothing! I love the freedom of the summers. Maybe I should move to a warmer climate!
