I have all of my grand parents albums. All country, I have my first album KC and the Sunshine Band. and all Conway Twitty songs and last Grease. but I really love country not this new stuff but all the all ones. Faith Hill is a good one to listen to.
Somewhere I have a rehershal tape made by my Russian ex-boyfriend and 2 other musicians. The singer, my boyfreind, was AWFUL! He also played the accordian which terrified my cats
I have a bunch of stuff that might be considered embarrassing if I thought being snobby about books or music meant somone was actually more intelligent than someone else! Ha! I have tons of one hit wonders like Kung fu fighting and seasons in the sun. the night chicago died. Oh… but there is one that when I’m cranking it out in my convertible if I come to a stop I turn it down. the pussy cat dolls “don’t ya wish your girlfriend was hot like me”. I also have Yanni CD’s and some Afro Man. I have a sick obsession with Kid Rock. Own everything he’s ever done. Maybe it’s cuz I grew up in a trailer park but I think of him as a good lyricist! when you have my kind of taste it’s impossible to be embarrassed.
oh and I forgot. I love this guy but can’t think of his name. He was known for “making the piano talk” and he played instrumental piano versions of popular songs. floyd something??? My mother loved him! When she was dying I played his CD’s by her bed. I love him to! I do! you ordered him off tv for 9.99!
I love all of my music, a collection of country and the greatest blues artists. I love the blues! You’ll find great song titles in country music, but the blues? Priceless titles!!! One of my faves? “I Think Your Wife Is Cheating On Us.” We will not speak of my husband’s Grateful Dead collection….
Well this one is easy…I own every Hanson album they have put out thus far…Although I’m not too embarrassed (they are my favorite band) having 16 versions of mmmbop is not something to brag about.
What a great topic! I love my Sea Shanties, miss my Rod McKuen albums (had ‘em all; wonder what happened to them?) Also, the Ray Conniff Singers for what I’ll call, “Mommy Music.” Very soothing when the youngsters are running around in circles .
Definitely my Spike Jones music. My grandkids love to hear it when they were younger, and thought it was hilarious. It drove my kids nuts when I used it as background music for dinner one time.
I went through a period in my 20s where I was in love with the movie “The Summer of ‘42” and I bought the album. I loved it and I played it over and over a gazillion times. Now that’s embarrassing.
I’ll never forget the first time my boyfriend (we’ve been together 14 years—he’s more than a boyfriend—kind of a different category ((husband/friend?)) ) saw my turntable. He was amazed and laughed for a while and then told me I should get rid of it! (He is 15 years younger than me.) In his defense, he grew up in an age when there were always computers.
When I replied, “How will I play my albums?” he realized I was serious about keeping my turntable and definitely not replacing my albums with CDs.
My albums are in storage now, along with my turntable, and at times I miss that scratchy sound when I put the needle down.
