I loved St. Elsewhere, the Rockford Files, All in the Family, The Jeffersons, Barney Miller, Taxi, Night Court, Judging Amy, Crossing Jordan, there are many more. Am I a couch potato? You betcha!
I would NOT leave the house for any reason when the Mary Tyler Moore show was on. I loved Twin Peaks for its weirdness and mystery. Absolutely Fabulous was irresistible. More recently, Six Feet Under had the most compelling characters and storylines that took you completely by surprise. From ‘way back, the Ernie Kovaks Show was wild, wacky and totally ahead of its time.
Everyone is going to think I am nuts - but I grew up on the cultural OMNIBUS program. And I long for the type of programming I saw on it as a child. So intelligent!
Going way back, I loved Steve Allen, Leave it to the Girls, Playhouse 90Jack Paar, Candid Camera, Sid Caesar, Jackie Gleason, Dragnet, Person to Person I think that was it - an ihnterviewer went into celebrities homes), ArthurGodfrey, What’s My Line, this is YOur Life, The $60,000 Question, Virginia Graham, and on and on. Now I just watch aold Masterpeice Theatres.
Oh my, so many memories: Family, Murphy Brown, St. Elsewhere, Upstairs/Downstairs, Duchess of Duke St., 6Ft……where are the new favoritess? My daughter and I used to watch Sisters together and although she was only 10 or so, it was a great window to the world of women.
Well heck, I screwed up my first post! Anyhow, what I said then lost was that I miss “Murphy Brown,” “Designing Women,” “Sex and the City,” “Strong Medicine” on Lifetime, “Providence,” and just about any show that portrayed women with strength and humor.
Heartbeeps, Mary Tyler Moore, I Love Lucy, Cheers, The Odd Couple, Happy Days, Laverene & Shirley, Mork, Mash, All In the Family…Nickelodeon take me away!
