Maybe we should next ask what shows we didn’t see we seem to have about cover 60 years of T.V. I didn’t see any I Love Lucy, Beverly Hillbillies, Doby Gillis, Hee Ha, I Married Joan, Hazel, Outerlimits, Love Boat, well ya we have our outer limits. I saw these shows on our black and white counsel T.V with the rabbits ears just placed so… Dad telling us all “Don’t touch the T.V”. Each having our own favorite viewing spot, mine was right down in front on a big pillow, Mom and Dad where on the couch and my brothers always wrestling over one place or another. Truly I can understand why so many children ask ” When did color start ? ” ” Can only small people be in television ? ” ” Why do all the women were black lipstick, but they don’t sell any at Newberries. When the “Wonderful World of Color” was in black in white, was it then I decided to become a artist to set things right ? I also would like to mention channel 9’s movies who introduced me to the Movies, apropos to watch the black and white classics then on our old sets made sense. I never saw country music people before then, Ballet, Opera, it was my world my friend, babysitter, the favorite teacher. The one to tell the bad news of Presidents dying, murdered. The one who told me the unbelievable landing on the moon, that there were racists to go to the extreme of such hate that they would kill, and such heros that would die to stop it. It woke us up in the morning, and as I recall when I was suppose to be in bed but instead be in the hall down on the floor listening to Jack Parr or Johnny Carson it put me to sleep as well. Which was not the greatest thing for me, I got caught 7 out of 10 times.

Northern Exposure, Cagney and Lacey, Murphy Brown, Mary Tyler Moore, Dick Van Dyke, Designing Women, Carol Burnett, MASH, Golden Girls, the Sopranos, there must be more. I can’t remember right now. One I could never understand was I Love Lucy. I hated that show. The character was a moron and made women seem like morons and I hated it even back when I was a kid. I never could understand why or how anyone was positively impressed by that show. The first three on my list were Monday night shows and after a long day at work and getting my kids into bed, it was a joy to sit down and watch a smart, entertaining show. Thanks to all.

Now I REMEMBER! St Elsewhere and Soap! I remember watching Soap in Israel, with subtitles. That’s where I first saw Billy Crystal. Totally brilliant show. All us Americans would get together at my apartment.to watch. Our Israeli other halves never understood most of it. We were in heaven while it was on and we would rehash it all the rest of the week. Israeli TV was no thrill back in the 70s.
