Where can we find you at 3 o'clock on Thanksgiving?

Why Candice Bergen Wants to Know if They Serve Turkey in Ethiopia

On Thanksgiving, my husband and I will be in Addis Ababa, in Ethiopia, with my daughter who is there for a year volunteering. We will be taking the American doctor she works for and his 17 kids and interns to a restaurant that serves a Thanksgiving dinner. What that could be, I don’t want to think but it could be a goat … or a camel?

Oh, No! Is Liz Smith Cooking?

I’ll be sweating as a sous chef in a very nice kitchen in Manhattan. I can’t cook but I can wash, sort, clean, separate and wait tables. I’d rather not say exactly where I’ll be as the other guests invited might not come.

Judith Martin Wants Seconds

At my daughter’s, saying, "Oh, no, thank you, dear, I really shouldn’t, but — well, maybe just a tiny touch more, because it’s so good." And that’s just about the hors d’oeuvres and the prosecco, because dinner will not yet have started.

Joan Juliet Buck to Party With a Very Popular Man on Thanksgiving

Sitting down with friends, and if we are lucky, the painter Brad Kahlhamer will join us. Brad is Native American, and because of this he is in great demand at Thanksgiving, and committed to appear at at least five Thanksgiving feasts.

Hey, Belinda, you’re not the only one alone today. Son went to his dad’s, daughter is with in-laws in Cincinnati. So I got the house ready for my weekend visitor Catherine from Brittany. But….had a contract accepted on a house and was thankful that I could call my client and say, Congratulations! You’ve just bought a house…. Hope you have had a wonderful day, even if it has been in solitude.

Thanks Diana, the same to you. And congrats on the commission that is coming your way for the house. In this market, you know that is great news for both you and your client (and the sellers). One of my sisters just dropped off my Thanksgiving plate and WOW was it delicious! Now it’s time to sit back and let the turkey soothe me into oblivion for the night. Well, let’s see what subjects are up for debate next week Diana, I’m sure they’ll be interesting. Have a great weekend.

QM and I will be at the house of one of her Bridge Broads who is also a widow and a single daughter the same age as I am. There will be an additional couple who is also a Bridge Broad friend of QM’s. Her husband has gone blind, but is one of the funniest men I know. I will be thankful for my mom’s friends, and not having to spend the holiday by ourselves. I will eat all the wrong things and love every minute of it. Happy Thanksgiving All! CA

I cheat on Thanksgiving and go to a buffett with my daughter and grandsons, but by three; will probably be trying to figure out how to feng sui my living room so I can bring the tree out of storage. I do cook a big meal on Christmas eve, it started when my children were younger and spent Christmas Eve at home, and Christmas at their Dad’s house, and just has remained that way since. Blessings and Happy Thanksgiving to WOW! Linda

My family celebrates pragmatically. Since we are hundreds of miles apart, we travel on Thursday, bake on Friday and dine on Saturday. None of this black Friday stuff for us! So I should be halfway to southern California at 3 p.m. The trouble this year is that we were all told to “bring something” but there was no coordination as to what to bring. So if we end up with five cranberry sauce/relish dishes or three sweet potato casseroles, it will be amusing. The only crime I can imagine is if there is no pie. I was thinking of making a lemon poppyseed cake just to be different. And maybe some marinated olives. I always bring a bottle of champagne just in case. But no matter where I will be, I will be feeling grateful to all who have made this year give me hope, even as several friends and relatives grew ill and died; this was a difficult but promising year.

I will be on the road driving the Restaurant where we are having dinner. My sister……..granddaughter/husband and my 5 year old great grandson. With the additon to my house not finished……….my granddaughters oven just quit working………..It’s just easier this way. The Restaurant we are going to has great Turkey dinners. We will come back to my house for dessert………..pumpkin pie….apple pie……..choice of whip cream or ice cream or both! I wish each of you a happy blessed day hopefully with people you love.

Hi, everybody! I suppose at around 3 we’ll just be leaving the house headed out to a movie but I won’t whine about that anymore, already posted our plans on another thread and got some amazingly gracious and warm responses, made me feel all warm and fuzzy :) And to that end, I wanted to post something that I came across that made me think of some of the wonderful wo/men I’ve encountered on this site, wasn’t really sure where to post it but I figure in the vein of Thanksgiving sentiment this will be hopefully be relevant to some. While this isn’t an attempt to promote Deepak Chopra, the following link expresses a concept that I have always considered very important to the world, and that is, that the world will never be at peace until each and every one of us personifies peace within. I wish you all a wonderful Thanksgiving and above all, I wish you peace. http://www.itakethevow.com/

Well…you didn’t specify if it was 3:00 AM or 3:00 PM…But to be honest for both times I will be cooking. T-Day dinner is an all night and most of the day affair for me. Tradition. My grandmother taught my mom and my mom taught me. May everyone be blessed during this season of Thanksgiving and may all problems be put aside for just this one day.

At 3pm we’ll probably be at my cousin’s house visiting and getting dinner ready. It’ll be the first thanksgiving in 3 years i’ve spent with my oldest daughter and the first in 20 that i’ve spent with this set of cousins. Really looking forward to it. I’ve not got any cooking obligation this year as my cousin’s husband is an incredible cook who absolutely LOVES it. She jokes about how he’s best friends iwth all the people at the grocery store as he goes every day. Thank goodness because i’m really not that good of cook. My only real thanksgiving “tradition” besides family and some kind of food (whether it’s at a restaraunt or not) is exercising. I always always always get some sort of work out in on thankgsiving day.
