Where do you plan to watch the returns of the Presidential Election?

Liz Smith Is Ready for a New Gig

I’d prefer to be in bed in my own apartment watching TV. But I have a few invitations and I might have a babysitting job, so I can’t say yet. I will be holding myself in readiness for being named Secretary of State.

Joan Juliet Buck's 2008 Election Plans

A friend is giving a party. Some acquaintances are giving a party. I may be reporting something for Vogue. I don’t yet know who I’ll be crashing around with, but I will try to forget the night in 2004 when I came home from 12 hours as a poll challenger to a house full of friends who’d been working just as hard, and my boyfriend cooked dinner for a sorry lot of disappointed, shocked, bemused, frustrated, angry, depressed Democrats. That feeling of uncomprehending helplessness.

Cynthia McFadden Circles the McCain Camp

I’ll be working. Covering the returns from the Biltmore Hotel in Phoenix where John McCain and Sarah Palin are holding their election night party.  Hope some of you will join me by tuning in to ABC. Should be quite a night.

Why Candice Bergen Is 'Very Anxious,' 'Agitated' About the Election

I will probably watch the election at home with my brother and friend Bee. My husband will be in NYC at an intimate and fascinating dinner with politically sophisticated and connected people but I, unfortunately, will be in L.A. finishing "Boston Legal." I am, like all of us, very anxious and agitated about this election and not as optimistic as some.

Judith Martin: Gondoliers for Obama on YouTube (Video)

I’m in Venice, where everyone keeps telling us how proud they are going to be of us if we elect Obama. To see this carried to its hilarious extreme, check out Gondoliers for Obama on YouTube.

Mary Wells Reports to wOw From Europe on November 4

I will be in Europe. I am almost always there for presidential elections even though it is much more interesting and exciting to be in the United States and feel you are part of elections. In Europe people assume I know every intimate thing about U.S. candidates and some of their questions are hilarious but they truly care about and relate to the results.

Joan Ganz Cooney to Pray on Election Day

I intend to be with family and friends and pray to God that we end the evening early and smiling.

Marlo Thomas 'Prefers Her Homemade Pundits to Any Other'

At home, with Phil and a few friends. This has become something of a tradition in our crowd. I love the immediate feedback from the people I trust. I prefer my homemade pundits to any other.

Julia Reed's No. 1 Election-Stress Reliever

I plan to watch the returns in my library with my husband and my dog, switching back and forth between ABC and Cynthia McFadden, NBC and Tom Brokaw, CNN and Fox. Depending how long it all takes, I may have to go down the street to the Bridge Lounge (which happily allows both husbands and dogs) for a tension-relieving Mojito (made with Louisiana satsumas, now in season) or three. It is the kind of place where the TV will likely NOT be tuned to any election news.

At home. My son may come over for awhile. And, periodically, I will be checking in on wow.

Hi Diana, I hope your son makes it over for a while. In any event, please know that I’ll say a little toast to you, as I lift a glass tonight for Obama. Your voice has been one of the ones I have listened to over the last few months. So, “Cheers” to you, and Obama. Best,

I’ve got my son and a few close friends coming over, not a huge group, 12 adults and 4 dogs :) all smart, caring, and cautiously optimistic people. I keep alternating between giddy happy dance moments and completely gripped by fearful paralysis, ugh! I cannot wait till it’s called for Obama and am so looking forward to finally getting our country back!

It should be a yawn until after midnight, with a huge voter turnout. Unseasonably pleasant weather in much of the Midwest will ensure long lines, and slow vote tallies. I’ll watch at home.

I’ll be in Catatonia, where I’ve been for the past eight years. Call me, when it’s safe to come out.

I live in Paris and friends are coming over with their pajamas to watch CNN all night. Who could sleep?

I will be at home with my husband, a few close friends and our dogs…waiting for that moment when I can open the several bottles of champagne I’ve been saving for this day. I woke up before dawn today, something that rarely happens…even though we won’t be voting until later in the day…just a sense of excitement, like a kid on Christmas morning! Godspeed Mr. Obama.

At home and hiding under the covers if the incoming results are close!!!! I will watch NBC for a bit to see if Tom remembered to bring Tim’s cup, then off to PBS. (I still can’t believe Tom thinks Palin was good for the women’s movement…go figure!!!) I

I got up at 5 walked the mile to the voting building , thought it would be crowded but only 10 people before me.Doors opened at 6.30, walked in voted and got out. YEAH!!!!!Got home at 7, nice brisk walk and now I want coffee and bed but tonight I just got to stay up as long as I can. I am like Candice I need to see and hear it several times before I dare to start dancing. I will miss some of the reportage because I am going to see the new outdoor light display at the Biltmore Castle in Asheville. It is supposed to be a spectacular show for their Christmas crowds. Daughter works there and gets a preview tonight.

Jeannot, Have a wonderful time at the Biltmore Castle tonight. I’m sure you will. I’ll say a little toast to you, I’ll make a little wish for us all, as I lift a glass to Obama later. Hopeful and nervous, but mostly hopeful. Best,

Not planning to watch. I have an unviewed set of DVDs of a British miniseries A DANCE to the MUSIC of TIME, almost 7 hours long, and will immerse myself in that and try to quell the dreadful nausea I am experiencing. Worry kills, so I’m doing a cop out.

I will be home alone, hopefully celebrating with a glass of Napa’s finest. I am anxious ,espeicially when I heard this morning that there were already problems with some voting machines. The turnout of voters gives me hope that people really do want a change and that today is the beginning of a new light in our country. However, just watching the movie “Recount” I’m a bit nervous. Hopefully history will not repeat itself.
