Where do you plan to watch the returns of the Presidential Election?

Liz Smith Is Ready for a New Gig

I’d prefer to be in bed in my own apartment watching TV. But I have a few invitations and I might have a babysitting job, so I can’t say yet. I will be holding myself in readiness for being named Secretary of State.

Joan Juliet Buck's 2008 Election Plans

A friend is giving a party. Some acquaintances are giving a party. I may be reporting something for Vogue. I don’t yet know who I’ll be crashing around with, but I will try to forget the night in 2004 when I came home from 12 hours as a poll challenger to a house full of friends who’d been working just as hard, and my boyfriend cooked dinner for a sorry lot of disappointed, shocked, bemused, frustrated, angry, depressed Democrats. That feeling of uncomprehending helplessness.

Cynthia McFadden

Cynthia McFadden Circles the McCain Camp

I’ll be working. Covering the returns from the Biltmore Hotel in Phoenix where John McCain and Sarah Palin are holding their election night party.  Hope some of you will join me by tuning in to ABC. Should be quite a night.

Candice Bergen

Why Candice Bergen Is 'Very Anxious,' 'Agitated' About the Election

I will probably watch the election at home with my brother and friend Bee. My husband will be in NYC at an intimate and fascinating dinner with politically sophisticated and connected people but I, unfortunately, will be in L.A. finishing "Boston Legal." I am, like all of us, very anxious and agitated about this election and not as optimistic as some.

Judith Martin: Gondoliers for Obama on YouTube (Video)

I’m in Venice, where everyone keeps telling us how proud they are going to be of us if we elect Obama. To see this carried to its hilarious extreme, check out Gondoliers for Obama on YouTube.

Mary Wells Reports to wOw From Europe on November 4

I will be in Europe. I am almost always there for presidential elections even though it is much more interesting and exciting to be in the United States and feel you are part of elections. In Europe people assume I know every intimate thing about U.S. candidates and some of their questions are hilarious but they truly care about and relate to the results.

Joan Ganz Cooney to Pray on Election Day

I intend to be with family and friends and pray to God that we end the evening early and smiling.

Marlo Thomas 'Prefers Her Homemade Pundits to Any Other'

At home, with Phil and a few friends. This has become something of a tradition in our crowd. I love the immediate feedback from the people I trust. I prefer my homemade pundits to any other.

Julia Reed's No. 1 Election-Stress Reliever

I plan to watch the returns in my library with my husband and my dog, switching back and forth between ABC and Cynthia McFadden, NBC and Tom Brokaw, CNN and Fox. Depending how long it all takes, I may have to go down the street to the Bridge Lounge (which happily allows both husbands and dogs) for a tension-relieving Mojito (made with Louisiana satsumas, now in season) or three. It is the kind of place where the TV will likely NOT be tuned to any election news.

We won’t riot, we’ll dance in the streets. If we don’t win, we’ll be grateful that we have come so far.

I will watch at home. Last night I was smiling thinking our country is finally going to be getting on a new path when it hit me. What if it doesn’t turn out like I believe it should. When Bush won the second term I didn’t think he would, and that is when I realized, just because something should turn out for the good doesn’t mean it will. It was a frightening reality check for me.

There is a lovely column on the Washington Post.com sight. It is by Cohen on the opinion page. It explains how we got here for this wonderful day. He goes back to LBJ in 1964 and works his way to now. I e-mailed it to all my friends. I’d put a link to it here if I knew how. I suggest every one go there and read it. Bev.

OK just got home from knocking on doors for Obama voters. All the volunteers are meeting in the city convention hall to watch the returns. It will be nice to be around people who are pulling for the same person I am. So in Jacksonville, NC we are going to party at the convention hall.

There’s a bottle of bubbly chilling in the fridge, and I’ll either be swimming in it or drowning my sorrows with it. My 16 year old daughter has a volleyball match at 6pm tonight (on the West Coast), and that’s where I’ll be, happily distracted for a few hours. I hope results shape up early.

Comfortable and luxuriating in a pair of indigo blue satin pajamas. A bottle of Napa Valley Pinot Noir uncorked, glass poured and white chocolate truffles for sinning with. During this momentous evening, I will be creating art. I am working on a couple of figurative art dolls, illustrating a story about a traveling striped chair (ala, the gypsy gnome), making soup, doing a bit of mending and meditatively attuning to all our positive visioning. I have been imagining this for what seems like lifetimes. Oh wait, in my case it has been lifetimes. (heh heh, just a little reincarnational humor) I confess to occasional seconds of the already mentioned “daymare” scenario, yet breathe through them. My human family, the whole world is perched with bated breath and chewed nails, pacing like a maternity room new father. Wow! Today feels like the first day of menstruation, getting my driver’s license, graduation, turning 21and every other milestone marker on the journey. Damn, I am glad to be alive!!

As I hit “submit,” I heard my grandmother’s voice saying, “Good things come to those who wait.” I believe our waiting is over.

I’m in Vegas at a convention, so whatever sportsbook/bar I can find with a TV on the results.

Currently eating Halloween candy and watching the returns on MSNBC with my son while he puts his red state/blue state puzzle together as the calls are made!! Spent most of today at Election Plaza in Rockefeller Plaza and in Times Square at the CNN set after voting — NYC is the most exciting place in the world today!! Go Obama!!

My son and I just got back from voting……….I stopped off at the Chinese resturant for some Chinese Chicken Salad to go………..He had to get back to his place, his wife is recuperating from Surgery.. I getting ready to open a Coke Put my salad in a Pretty bowl and start watching the News, I’ll channel surf. I was disappointed to hear that only 120 people had voted so far today in my neighborhood………..although most people around here do work. I hope they flood in and vote after work. I have been so nervous all day……… I hope I’m a Happy Democrat by the end of the night

No, I can’t see the Democrats rioting either. I think we’ll celebrate how well we’ve done whether we win or lose.
