Rosa Parks, Eleanor Roosevelt, Jackie Kennedy and my mom…she was one of the greatest women I’ve ever known…she’s gone now but I can see her etched in stone.
This is a tough question, because there are definitely more that 4 women who deserve to be considered. My choice’s are: Eleanor Roosevelt, Amelia Earhardt, Jacqueline Kennedy and Delores Hope.
OH ladies, Mount Rushmore is an AMERICA rock, so only pick americans…. I mean its fun to think about putting women up there..but lets be honest, men don’t want a bunch of womens heads looking down on them so it will never happen. EVER! But I do enjoy the fact that Abigail Adams was mentioned she is my great great great great… grandmother.
If we had womens head on mount rushmore I would want my Grandma Helen Gates (who started a home for handicapped adults to find jobs and live on their own) my 6th grade teacher who told me i WAS smart enough and Had one of the most beautiful voices she ever heard and encouraged me to be in theater, my best friend Sarah who is the sister of my heart and I waited for for a very long time she loves me no matter what. And well just for giggles myself! but without the glasses.
Now the reason why all these women… cause we are just normal everyday people who make this world keep on turning. We make differances oh we dont’ change laws, or make billions(only in my dreams) but we love our friends and the human spirit. We love life and take in the differances in all of us human beings trying to find a place in this world. :)
I wanted to add Juliette Low, the founder of the Girl Scouts in the US. I can’t even imagine after 95 years, how many lives she has touched. And where would we be without the cookies?
Susan B. Anthony, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Clara Barton and Molly Pitcher who delivered water to our soldiers during the Revolutionary War’s Battle of Monmouth that took place in my backyard.
Congratulations on this site - I hope it takes off in a huge way. Hard to select just four women so many have changed the world for better. Four that I really admire would be Rosa Parks, Susan B. Anthony, Eleanor Roosevelt and Lillian Hellman. I loved Marlo Thomas’ idea of Georgia O’Keeffe designing the monument.
LOVE this website - thank you!
Oprah, a spiritual lighthouse for so many women. Lady Jane Goodall for her incredible patience and kindness to animals. Mother Teresa - she did it anyway in spite of doubt. Margaret Mitchell - for her gift of Miss Scarlett. Do we really only get four??? Why?
Amelia Earhart, Eleanor Roosevelt, Margaret Mead and maybe designing a face for the fourth position to encompass all the women in the United States that have made a difference
Which 4 Women? Well, myself, for starters, then, Carol Burnett, [of course] Whoopi Goldburg, ANDDEFINITELY Barbara Walters. [If it were allowed to put 5 women, I’d add: Ellen DeGeneres!
Shirley W. ,NJUSA
I’d love to see Maya Angelou, Rosa Parks and Billie Jean King. I think the 4th face should be blank as a representative of all the nameless, faceless women that were (and are) behind the scenes getting it done while others (men) were taking their credit.
