Three of my friends, Rosalie, Debbie, Laura and me. No one said they had to be notable, just available to be forever in stone.

Great question! I suggest: Eleanor Roosevelt, Golda Meir, Jane Addams, and Elizabeth 1. As someone said earlier, “Each for the obvious reason”.

There were many good choices posted above, but I think it would have to be prominent American women. Therefore Madeleine Albright, Shirley Chisholm, Betsy Ross, Sandra Day O’Conner and Sally Ride.

I would add Elizabeth Cady Stanton, who in 1848 held the first women’s rights convention at Seneca Falls in New York. Anna Sklar

I’d like to see one anonymous pioneer woman —one who drove a wagon with the kids and farmed a new “section” without a husband. Women like these weren’t myth, one was my ancestor: Hannah Holloway Stanley.

How about Ella Grasso, the first woman Governor of Connecticut elected in her own right. Sandra Day O’Connor should be there. What about Geraldine Ferraro? I would like to see Margaret Thatcher, but are talking about American women? Golda Meir, but again Mount Rushmore has Americans there. Sally Ride, or can’t remember McAulliffe’s first name. So many, how could you limit it? Susan B. Anthony, Rosa Parks, and what about Sacawagea?

As Mt Rushmore is for Presidential busts, I should think that the four women to go on it should be the first four women who are elected POTUS.

Great question! I too think they should be American women considering the location. Therefore I would nominate Eleanor Roosevelt, Helen Keller, Ella Firzgerald (the first lady of song) and Sally Ride (the first woman in space).
