I sent this on Thursday, but it didn’t show up:
Shirley Chisholm, the first black woman elected to congress, outspoken advocate for women and minorities
Tammy Baldwin, first openly lesbian member of the House of Representatives
Gloria Steinem, American feminist icon, journalist and women’s rights advocate
Juliette Gordon Low, the founder of Girl Scouts of the USA
Wow……what a great question, what a great new site! Hmmm….4 ladies for Mt. Rushmore, that’s a tough one, but here are 4 great women (there are SO many others as well!) — Amelia Earhart, Eleanor Roosevelt, Rosa Parks and Madeleine Albright. Best of luck with the new endeavor!
I’m updating my original choices. Rosa Parks, Susan B. Anthony, Betty Friedan, Marie Curie, George Sand, Jane Austen, Edith Wharton, George Eliot,Gloria Sreinem, Rachel Carson, Margaret Sanger,Abigail Adams,Eleanor Roosevelt, Eliabeth C. Stanton. And so many more.
I nominate 4 women who died in Iraq. They are anonymous to us but they were mothers,
daughters and wives to others. These women were pilots, medics and soldiers and someone
should build a monument to their ultimate sacrifice and that of their families.
I’ve been waiting for a site like this. Thanks!
My four Rushmore women: Hillary Clinton, Madeleine Albright, Rosalynn Carter and Whoopi (any and all of whom would make fine presidents).
I emailed this yesterday. Glad to see so many others agree with Eleanor! Upside down your name is MOMOMOM :) My 4 choices: Eleanor Roosevelt, Janis Joplin, Sarah Bernhardt (the French actress) and Marilyn Monroe. Good luck with the site! Susan Sarantos http://www.sarantos.com
My four choices would be Eleanor Roosevelt, Rosa Parks, Susan B. Anthony and Sagajawea. All of these women contributed to the present-day empowerment of all women in the US.
As a girl in the late 60s-early 70s, here’s my Mt. Rushmore:
Mary Tyler Moore, Elizabeth Montgomery, Marlo Thomas and Barbara Eden!
As a young woman in the mid-70s-early 80s,
Bella Abzug, Gloria Steinem, Geraldine Ferraro, Elisabeth Kubler-Ross
I submitted these names on Thursday — Eleanor Roosevelt, Joan of Arc, Marie Curie and Harriet Beecher Stowe. Why would anyone select Britney Spears????
Love the question of who would I like to see on Mt. Rushmore. My choices are: Barbara Jordan, Golda Meir, Rosa Parks, Katherine Hepburn. There are many, many more that would qualify as well. Great website, best of luck and I will be an avid “wower”.
