Whoopi's Wish for McCain's Running Mate

I would like to see John McCain pick Michael Bloomberg or Bill Richardson.

Joan Ganz Cooney Can Only Hope

I haven’t given this any thought and only hope he chooses someone who doesn’t add strength to the ticket.

Liz Smith: Paris Hilton for Vice President!

Definitely Paris Hilton. She has already shown us she’s not just another pretty face. She has political moxie if you’ve seen her ad. And as I think his campaign has had all the makings of total farce, what’s one more extravagant nothing?

Mary Wells Is No Help to John McCain

I don’t have a favorite for John McCain. I am inspecting all the states and am not sold yet. I bet both he and Obama stay up nights twisting and turning and grinding their teeth on this question.

I should proof read; “My husband was very angry at first…..”

I don’t know if it’s Alzheimer’s or anything like that - I won’t go there. But McCain looked tired to me, rubbing his face and all. How I would’ve handled that is to say, “Look, I’m a little tired. I’ll get back to you with an answer later.” McCain did say that, but all the himming and hawing…just the opposite of how he appeared in the Rick Warren sitdown interview. Both candidates need to come across with their answers a little more crisply heading into the stretch run of this campaign. It does boggle my mind that some of these lawmakers can’t recall which way they voted on things.

Excuse me, James, but do you honestly believe that he can’t remember how he’s voted on something like roe v wade? I don’t believe that for one second. But, it is obvious he can’t think on his feet very well.

I think it was the Viagra thing that threw him for a loop. Yeah, on many issues McCain hesitates, but I think it’s because he’s trying to curry the favor of moderates and conservatives both. He wants the conservatives think he’s on their side, and he also wants Democrats and moderates to believe he’s on their side. It’s quite a tightrope to walk. Strangely, on other issues McCain doesn’t try to walk the tightrope. He’s anti-abortion, pro-war. On those issues, he sounds decisive, and that’s why he handled the Rick Warren questions so easily.

JMK So what are we doing here? Starting an unsubstantiated rumor that McCain has Alzheimers? No thanks, not going to participate in that. Not in agreeing or disagreeing, just seems silly and unkind, less than who we are.

Frannie —— “Starting an unsubstantiated rumor that McCain has Alzheimers”? This rumor has been going around since the Republican Primary. It’s strange — his medical records are out there. It is silly and unkind and, definitely less than who we are. My disappointment in some of the women on this site really —- Enough said

Lady Gator Don’t get disappointed or mad. This site is predominantly liberal, and that is the way it is going to be. You know this is how it goes. Just keep being yourself and sticking to principle and what political positions you want for a solid and strong government. They just see it differently. That is okay. I have to keep a watch on my adjectives ;-).

No Way-No How -No McCain
Lady and Frannie, I just don’t see how you think the site is mostly liberal..I think it is balanced and you are two who help balance it. We may not change sides, but I listen to your opinion, and others do too. Sheesh, gals, politics isn’t a tea social, but you have moderated us, slightly at least. No blood on the walls, see! Shouldn’t we get a little credit for that?!

Winery Thanks for the heads up. We all get educated here by the caliber of the women, and you are one of them. Yes, I like that, no blood on the walls. LOL. I think we are all trying a little harder because we don’t want to destroy the site. I don’t either. I know it isn’t a tea social, and it would be boring if it was. We are all coming around to communicating better, but still wonder if shots are going to get fired. LOL Yes, you deserve credit. Thanks.

Frannie, sorry you feel that I am starting a rumor here. It has been around for some time. I hope in all sincerity that I am wrong. I have seen and worked now with a lot of people with dementia. I do not wish that on my worst enemy. Yes, I am a liberal but make no mistake that if Obama would show signs I would be just as worried.

I thought McCain looked tired, rubbing his face and all. If you’re that tired, don’t field reporters’ questions. These campaign managers push these guys too hard.

Maybe his uh-uh-uhs could be described as ataxic speech. I am not a doctor and I don’t think so. All I can say is I am around Alzheimer’s patients every week and neither of us is qualified to make such devastating and damaging comments.

I am not getting into this—so far as I know, none of these commenters is a physician. I take care of my mother—see Alz patients several times a week—and this contention is pretty lame. But this is how to get a pretty ripping rumor going…life in the US 2008..
