Yes, I would feel very safe with Hillary as President. “I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it…. Revelation 3:8 I am praying for Hillary, our nation needs her as President. PS

You’re seriously posing this question to a bunch of fiesty women? I’d feel safer with my local woman mayor as Commander-in-Chief than I do with the “heh-heh-heh” dunderhead who’s currently in that office for the next too many months. For me, the question has never been one of having a woman President (that issue should have been laid to rest a few decades ago) but rather of having the most capable, clear-thinking, management savvy, diplomatically talented, consultative, intellectually gifted individual lead our nation, especially when we are, as Joan says “hurtling over a cliff right now.” If Sen. Clinton were Commander-in-Chief I’d be a million times more comfortable than I would be with Sen. McCain. But, Sen. Obama is my first, best choice for President and the longer this campaign continues the more solid is my belief that he is best suited for the job.

Maurine, I was just thinking how to answer this question. And you summed it up perfectly, for me. Thanks!

ABSOLUTELY I honestly feel a woman as commander in chief is long overdue….first and most important is she would have no “little head” to think with just the one on her shoulders….I truly believe the woman to clean up this country’s problems is the Whoopster….she masters almost all of her endeavers imagine what she could do in the whitehouse.

I would trust a woman as commander-in-chief, provided the woman was a woman and not just a good-ol’-boy in a skirt. Somehow we have the idea that only a tough guy can run the country. Well, maybe that’s how we got in trouble in the first place. I think we need a fresh pair of eyes, and a new attitude at the top of the heap - woman or no.

When Obama was at the Harvard Law Review, was he involved at all in disallowing the military on campus…Seriously…I don’t know. Does anyone?

Apparently not. See http://www.nytimes.com/2007/01/28/us/politics/28obama.html The military recruitment ban at Harvard dates back to 1979. Obama attended Harvard a decade later.

Thanks—should have looked it up for myself. Lazy.

America trusts women to stay at home and raise our future citizens, why can’t we trust a woman to raise our country up again?!?!!??! I like Hillary Clinton and think she will make a great president. She is smart, intelligent strong, tenacious and thoughtful. What more could you want from a leader? She has seen the White House from the inside and outside. She knows how it works. Let’s give her a chance! By the by, I am glad Hillary is still fighting for the nomination, that’s what Democracy is all about. We never should have given up in 2000. Al Gore should have been in the White House where he belonged. When did we become so wimpy? Those Democrats, especially women, who say that won’t vote Democrat if their nominee doesn’t win are not Democrats! Support the party and what it stands for!

Ruth, I too was disappointed in 2004. But today, I count it as such a good thing that Al Gore wasn’t strapped to the White House after 9/11. We might have been safer today, as a nation. But had Gore not had the freedom to do the work that ultimately was honored by the Nobel Peace Prize Committee, we might still be quibbling amongst ourselves about global warming, instead of finally taking steps…as individuals…to correct.

Buh- Bye
I just read on the AP that Obama has begun his search for his VP. If he gets the nom and if he selects a woman other than Hillary I am so voting for McCain. According to the AP, on the list other than Clinton: “governors such as Arizona’s Janet Napolitano, Kathleen Sebelius of Kansas and Tim Kaine of Virginia; foreign policy experts like former Georgia Sen. Sam Nunn, Connecticut Sen. Chris Dodd or Delaware Sen. Joe Biden; or other senators such as Missouri’s Claire McCaskill and Virginia’s Jim Webb.” What, no Richardson or Edwards?

Yeah-what about those turncoats? Not good enough now, huh? If Hillary took VP, I would not even write her in as I now plan to. I would write in The Big Lebowski. Yup, The Dude!

Tim Russett asked John McCain way back before he was running( Has this race gone on forever?) if there was a chance for a McCain-Clinton ticket. McCain said he doubted that would happen but she would make a good secretary of defence! She should use that clip in an ad. Think how much better our world would be if almost anyone else was President.
