Chantelle Stedman's Baby Daddy | 05/19/2009 8:40 am
Chantelle Stedman, Tyler Barker, Both 15, Are Parents to Maisie
We were first introduced to Alfie Patten, 13, when his 15-year-old girlfriend gave birth earlier this year to Maisie in Eastbourne, East Sussex.
Patten, just 12 when he slept with Chantelle Stedman was believed to be the baby’s father — until other classmates came forward claiming that they, too, slept with Stedman.
DNA tests concluded in March that Patten was not the father. Now, the Sun reports, that paternity tests reveal that Maisie’s father is 15-year-old Tyler Barker.
Barker, who originally wept when he heard his classmate Stedman was pregnant, now says he intends to care for this three-month-old baby. When he first confessed to his father Chris Ireland that he was more than swapping gum with the girl in the playground, he seemed to play it off that the Stedman took advantage of him. Barker’s 44-year-old father reportedly told the Sun that Stedman seduced his son while he was drunk. Barker then suspected that after making love, Stedman was going to "take care of it" and use the morning-after pill.
While the story has several unbelievable elements, teenage pregnancy is a very real problem around the globe. When the Sun first published photographs of the 13-year-old Alfie Patten, who appears no older than age 8, cradle little Maisie, Prime Minister Gordon Brown worried that the case would make the government look irresponsible.

Are these children being raised by wolves?
Yeah, I know, I thought about that later. For the record, I meant no offense to wolves. But, seriously, the more I think about this the more it seems that these children are almost trying on some level to create a sense of family that they don’t have themselves. These two boys being so eager to "take care of" the baby, and yet not having a clue what that entails, is kind of pitiful. On the one hand, they sound more like 35 than 15. On the other hand, they are so incredibly naive.
I also thought it was weird that the PM was concerned that this would make the government look irresponsible.
I don’t know about you, but when I was a kid I was incredibly naive and pompously believed I could do anything better than my parents. Of course my mother rolled her eyes towards heaven whenever I demonstrated my stupidity.
What on earth gives kids the idea that they can act as adults? Where do they get that from?
This story is repulsive on so many levels. Having read so much about teenage sex I’m convinced that these kids need to be chained to a parent until they’re 18.
…..( The Sun News)….The shy lad, whose voice has not yet broken, said: “I thought it would be good to have a baby.
“I didn’t think about how we would afford it. I don’t really get pocket money. My dad sometimes gives me £10.”
Sadly we have that same problem right here in the US. Babies having babies and not thinking about who will pick up the diaper tab.
Exactly!…where the heck were the parents?. My son just turned 13 & unless he wants to be grounded til he’s 40 the ONLY thing he better be sleeping with is a teddy -bear!.
