Joan Ganz Cooney: Let Mom Do the Talking
In response to: Did you ever have to explain 'the birds and the bees' to your child or anyone else's? How did it go?
My granddaughter, Chloe, asked me several years ago how babies got into the mothers’ stomachs, and then she quickly took the question back. (She obviously had heard something from a peer.) I would have told her that she should talk to her mother and, in fact, I told her mother of the question and she took it from there.

Joan our daughter asked the same question when she was about 4. I told her daddies planted a seed in mommies tummy. A few weeks later our newly wed neighbors had us over and as the two men sat and talked our daughter tells this shy newly wed that he has "to plant a seed in Carol’s tummy to make a baby. " Oops!
