Joan Ganz Cooney Likes a 'Whiff of Danger'

Any man who interests me must be smart, have a sense of humor and make me laugh, radiate integrity and give off a little whiff of danger.

I like men who are supportive of women who speak out and respect their opinions without qualifying them.

Quality in a Man = If he will still love his mate through thick and thin and especially during sickness  and during these times he will do the dishes, do the laundry, sweep the floor, cook the meal and ask if there’s anything else he can do.  And even make her quiche and eat it.

Green Tears
A sense of humor, a bright smile and a look in his eye that lets me know just how amazing he thinks I am without speaking a word.

If I had to choose one quality, it would be the ability to love deeply; without that, all the smartness, cleverness, and humor he may display–-even good shoes, as Liz would cotton to, isn’t worth a tinker’s damn. Of course I’m talking personally here. So if it’s not my man, then the qualities would be all the above cited by my buddies above.

Phyllis Doyle Pepe - Well of course you’re quite right and you‘ve got me pegged exactly. Everything you say is me, all over, and in spades.  Plus the “shoes”, per Liz - and I even qualify for the preferences expressed by Rainbow Power, above -  except, I don’t do windows.   (but pDP - you forgot to mention “Humility”, which as you can see…is another fine quality I possess). lol ? (I hope) ?

Someone not afraid to be himself, even when that means rowing against the tide. I always respect brains and the ability to use language well - that goes for women friends as well! I love a man who can give me a laugh and get my own jokes. And he must love reading, and be happy to talk books, writing and the pleasures of both.

And then … full confession here: I love a little "bad-boy" edge. Like Joan Ganz Cooney, "a little whiff of danger" spices up life. Maybe that goes with the idea of a man who walks his own path? In this day and age, that can be a little dangerous, can’t it? Anyway, summing up, I’d have to say that a man who truly likes and appreciates women in all their complexity is my favorite kind of guy.

Must be intelligent, play classical piano, genuinely like animals, generous with his time, patience, love, and stops asking "Where is the_____ (fill in the blank)?"  If he wants me to get him something from the kitchen while I am up, I wish he would just say that.

Nothing too specific.

With my husband, it would have to be the need to take care of me. I know and he knows that I can take care of myself, but at times, he feels the need to do things for me to let me know he’s there for me.

I do the same for him.
