Don’t forget, James, that you have more than a few good friends on WOW whose days are enlightened because you are on. They may be - in the end - your bestest friends and closest … what do you think???
Joan, I have no doubt that this level of communication -although minus the back-and-forth of in-person conversation and the verbal/non-verbal cues - distills our friendships down to the purest form. And that is enriching. As for "enlightening" folks, you are very kind, but I learn more than I impart on this site.
Greetings. Of course not. I can’t stand liver. It grosses me out. You ladies, on the other hand, are like strawberry shortcake and ice cream on the 4th of July: sweet as can be.
Yes, sometimes I have to remind myself to do that. And I usually have a good time when I do, so it’s worth the effort. Just curious, do you have siblings? I am an only child and have always wondered if I tend to be…less social…because of that.
Deena, I have one full sister who is one year older, and a bunch of half-brothers/sisters who I didn’t grow up around, except for my half-sister Lynda, who was around for a couple years.
I think that is a factor. My father moved to the harness horse track to race/train horses when I was 7, and was informally separated from my mother. So, we only saw him once every other weekend until I turned 14. Kim was often off with her friends, and Mom was at work, so I spent a lot of time in isolation in the bedroom, listening to sports or reading Nancy Drew books. It’s definitely a factor.
James - Yes, this is a good website to "meet," share ideas and enrich our lives. I say, "thank you," to the ladies who fashioned and created this site, and, "thank you," to all the posters on wOw. All of you have enriched my life. Patty
There are some beautiful friendship tales above - I am like Deena, my husband above all, a couple of my 6 kids and my 4-legged kids! We aren’t social at all and enjoy simply being together. Two of my kids, a son and a daughter, I talk to nearly every day and consider them the best of friends.
