Sir James Paul McCartney was born June 18, 1942, into a working-class family in Liverpool, England. His father played in a jazz band and by 1956 young Paul followed in father’s footsteps, taking up the guitar. The English rock singer and songwriter was a member of the heart-melting Beatles whose hits include "Yesterday" (1965), "Eleanor Rigby" (1966), "Penny Lane" (1967), "Hey Jude" (1968), "Get Back" (1969) and "Let It Be" (1970).
