Ayaan Hirsi Ali Ayaan Hirsi Ali is a Fellow at the American Enterprise Institute, one of Time magazine's "100 Most Influential People of 2005," an advocate for women's rights and a leader in a campaign to reform radical Islam. She was born in Somalia and raised a devout Muslim. In 1992, she fled to the Netherlands to escape an arranged marriage. She won asylum, was granted citizenship, and served in the Dutch parliament. She authored the explosive screenplay, Infidel, which boldly challenged the domestic abuse of women. Despite being the target of violence and death threats by Islamic extremist, Ali still speaks out about the position of women in Islamic societies.
