In Texas, we’ve been triple digit heat for the last few days.  Around 10:00 this morning, it was already 88 degrees.  Let me tell you I stay INSIDE!

I live in Las Vegas - can’t stand the heat.  Just got back from 2 weeks in Atlanta - completely different type of heat.  So humid.  We went to Six Flags on a Saturday that happened to be 94 with 80+% humidity.  Yikes!  Heat is heat - dry or wet.  I really miss having open doors and windows such as I grew up with in Wyoming!

I live in Houston. We air condition almost year round, in our homes…in our cars…at work…and why we have an underground downtown tunnel (plus, there’s few people in the street during working hours)…otherwise we’d die outside in the 100 degree summer heat like it is right now.

I despise the heat and always have.  For the first 18 years of our marriage I lived in heat with humidity, dry heat, opressive heat—well you get it.  I was the most miserable person you could ever imagine—very PMSey all summer.  And then the payoff came.  My husband was transferred to an area which was just less than ten miles from the ocean.  We looked for one year to find a beach front house that we could afford, finally did, and have lived here 38 years. I wouldn’t move for a million dollars.  When I get up in the morning I open the front door, and all the back doors for cross ventilation and I’m good to go.

Sure, there are fires, no rain, earthquakes—you name it, we have it but I have never been as comfortable heat wise as I am here.  They’ll have to drag me out.

I go to the basement, turn the TV to the Food Channel and iron. That way I stay cool and smug at the same time;-)

I take a dip in the bay outside my front door.

OCCA:  If at least two of us are available, we go sailing in the morning. Then onto to beach for the afternoon. If it’s too crowded, then back home and into the pool. I can deal with any kind of heat as long as I have my sunscreen, big hat, and water around me.

Yes, the house is fully air conditioned. It’s probably on 3 days out of the year, possibly more if it’s raining ashes from wild fires.

I putter in the garden in the morning when it’s still in the shade of the house and before it gets 90+ degrees outside.  Southern Virginia has been unusually wet this spring and the mosquitoes seem to think Off is merely a seasoning to make us taste better.  The Japanese beetles are out in force and my beetle traps fill up every few days.  It’s great to go swimming off the boat between tubing and a picnic lunch.

I sometimes think that apart from Siberia, Canada is the only country in the world with 7 months of winter. So you can just bet as soon as a glimmer of sun arrives we slap on the SPF 60 strip off the mukluks & hit the nearest beach!

Very hot here on the high desert and I don’t like heat (though it is dry heat - no humidity, thank god).  Fortunately I live on a large creek, so I float and soak in the cool water of the creek every day, sometimes many times.  Especially beatiful at night, especially when there is a full moon.  Very private with lots of foliage and critters.

For me, it’s AC up until sundown.

I am less than an hour from the beach so off we go when we can.  Movies are cool inside as well as the house.  We went from the 70’s last week to 105 today.  Don’t like it.  I patched some sod and I don’t want it to burn up.

I live in Arkansas…we are having above normal temps right now, and with the humidity—- Whew!!! It’s hottttt…. Fortunately, I am a sun goddess and have a backyard pool, so I love it. I love summer just spending time outside. I love it so much, i don’t even mind the yard work.

Spent the day in my swimming pool with my granddaughter and her 5 year old son……my great grandson.  We had a blast.

It was well over 100 here today…….very unusual weather for us.

I had the Air conditioner on in the House…………

Made a big container of frozen Cappuccino’s………..

and fruit juice for the little guy………..

Lovely Day.

Cooked dinner late in the evening and invited my son and his wife to join us.  We all had a good time together…………These are the kind of days I like….being with family and sharing lots of love.

I am sadly confined to the Air conditioned indoors since my asthma (which is flairing up this summer) is triggered by the humidity that almost always accompanies the summer heat here in the Midwest.

I hate not be out too, since I love working in my garden!  But this week is suppose to be quite a bit cooler so I am going to be out there if it isn’t raining!
