Judith Martin's SPF Alternative

Using a parasol as protection from sunshine. By now, you would think that I might have mastered the skill of holding it without poking any accompanying gentleman in the eye, but the way they keep darting sideways suggests that this may not be the case.

Judith very good idea, but I bet you a dollar to donut that not everyone knows what a Parasol is, lol

I say this because I was asked a few days ago If I knew what it was and did I have one.  I informed the person I had quite a few, he looked confused and asked me what it was.  I informed himhe it was an umbrella but lighter and used for protection from the sun.  That ladies of the south used them daily back in the day.  I never seen anyone turn so red. lol

I still would use an SPF to the highest degree.

I do suspect, Ms. M, that you have the appropriate wardrobe to accompany said parasol… literal translation perhaps "for the sun," ….

This brings back memories of living in Natchez, Mississippi. It was a delightful town with lovely old homes and nearby plantations. Of course there were people who dressed for reenactments and the tourists. It was a lovely reminder of life at slower pace. A parasol was a must for the ladies of that era to keep their delicate skin from the ravages of the sun.
