The shiny sneakers Michelle Obama sported Wednesday while volunteering with Jill Biden at a Washington, DC, food bank have become all the rage. The plum and silver shoes, built with suede, were made by the high-end French design house Lanvin. The shoes, which will run you $540, also come in satin and denim.
The feet of other famous women, including Nicole Kidman, Kate Moss, Chloë Sevigny, Sofia Coppola, Catherine Deneuve and Jennifer Aniston, have also found comfort in the casual footwear brand.
Barneys New York, Bergdorf Goodman, Nordstrom and Neiman Marcus carry the Lanvin label. Even in this economy, it won’t be surprising if stores sell out of the sneakers.

Yep, that’s the "image" our First Lady wants to put out there! $540.00 for a pair of "sneaks."
What happened to wearing "affordable" clothing from J. Crew? Didn’t last long.
As one can see from the outfit she is wearing in the above photo, the image of America’s First Lady has definitely changed. Can’t wait for the bathing suit photo to follow….
Testy today….I am giving my opinion, DeBurca. I find it fascinating that anyone would find what Michelle Obama wears and spends on her clothes "newsworthy." That being said, since it is thrown in our faces on a weekly basis by the biased media we naturally comment on it. The media will eventually turn the public against this couple for the absurdity of it all.
Again, I cannot wait for the bathing suit photo. I’m sure it is next or at least show us a photo of her in her p. j.’s and bathrobe….the public is sitting on the edge of their chairs!
HA! What an elitist! Ah…for someone with all of that "education" Michelle sure made a stupid choice in footwear for a photo op at the food bank…
But wait…she is smart…so then it is once again evident…her elitist attitude and "let them eat cake" ideals. Yes, she knew just what she was doing…rubbing noses into the dirt…she honestly doesn’t give a care. They won after all….
And once again….not a peep from those that she blatantly mocks with her inappropriate display of wealth and excess.
How on earth can any of you assume where, how, or how much our First Lady acquired those shoes? Maybe she bought them at a 2nd-hand store; perhaps she borrowed them because her’s were soaked in the rainstorm, and had no idea about their couture status. Perhaps, perhaps, perhaps but for those of you who are believers, isn’t there something going around termed, WWJD. And isn’t it written "judge not lest ye be judged?"
Frankly, I don’t believe any of you who also bring your "faith" into these discussions. No wonder the world isn’t following your example.
"All the fuss about sarah palin was a fuss because they spent campaign money on her wardrobe. If it were her own money no one would have an opinion."
That’s pure BS. Cindy McCain was also raked over the coals because of her garments, that she bought with her own money.
This is a funny thread…invisible posts, shoe talk and (of course) Sarah Palin swipes…
But…in the allObamaLove all the time media presentation of all things Obama comes the very real risk of backlash. Yes…times are hard for most Americans; the President is telling us all to make ‘tough choices’ and the media (in their blithering idiocy) decides to breathlessly report on the value of Mrs. Obama’s shoes. Maybe the writers of this drivel really and trully are impressed by Lanvin; or Mrs. O wearing such high end items…BUT it won’t ‘play’ (public opinion wise) well for long.
Anyone else remember back, during the campaign when GWB’s Treasury sent the $600 stimulus checks? And Mrs. O (during a stump speech) commented $600? Why what are you going to with that? Buy a pair of earrings? And then Mrs. O was kinda taken off the trail for a little while…well, ‘because.’ Well now we all get our thirteen dollar a week Obama stiimulus (which add up to about $600 per year) and the media gushing about a pair of sneakers (I thought they were Keds at first, who knew those shoes were that high end?) that cost about the same amount as the pittance most Americans receive as ‘tax break’. Not a savvy PR move…especially at a food bank photo op. Things come back around to bite sometimes…
