One study from Yale says that women are evolving to become shorter and fatter. In recent years have you shrunk or gotten fatter?

Our witty, fun friends at Lemondrop.com recently highlighted a study by Yale scientists that said in the future women will be shorter and fatter. Are you concerned about this study?

"Short, fat, healthy, and hot," the study said?  Oh, well, 3 out of 4 ain’t bad.  At my tallest, I was 5’ even.  Now I’m 4’-10 3/4"   I’m shrinking because I’m old, but I am healthy so that’s good.  I already look as though I’m standing in a hole; wonder how much one can shrink before disappearing completely….

I have the "three Ss", scoliosis, stenosis and sciatica.  I have lost about an inch from 5’5" to 5’4".  As far as weight is concerned; I’ve never been under 130 and am at a stable weight now.  I’ll never be as thin as I would like but I’ll settle for stability.  My mother’s comment was always, "don’t get old, you won’t like it.  I don’t feel or consider myself old.  I don’t think any of us do.

I think I’m still about 5’4" but I’ve become a little pear-shaped. It takes just a little more ‘push’ to get out of my comfy chair.

When I went from 5’ 3 1/2" to 5’2" my shoe size went from 7 1/2 to 8 1/2 and I now look like I have clown feet.. Maybe my loss of height just slid down to my feet.

what I’ve noticed is that young girls are already starting to get shorter.  Body image is not just for the teens now.  Girls are obsessing over being thin at a very young age now and are starving themselves thin as young as 7 and 8 and this is stunting their growth.

I’m still short  and sadly gained 40 pounds 7 years ago when I quit smoking.  Frankly, I prefer the 40 pounds than the smokers cough.  I can always lose weight but a lung replacement is not on my agenda

I voted "other" because I’ve gained weight over the years, but have always been thin.

I am already too short and I cannot bare the thought of shrinking.

Was skinny as a rail for my first 30 years, and could eat ANYTHING!  Gained 5 pounds the day after I turned 30, and it has been a battle ever since.  Now quite rotund, and yes, have shrunk an inch and 3/4.  Well, I’m 80, so I will enjoy the things I love.

Well, I’ve definately gained weight.  But I recently discovered that I grew and inch!  I’m not sure when/how that happened…..but the important thing is that my BMI instantly got better!

I recently turned 40 and have seen no change in my height, then again I for most of my adult years I have been conscious about nutrition and exercise with only a few years in between where I burned out on it all and gained weight and didn’t do a lot of exercise (plus 2 kids). I’ve also stayed on the Pill rather do anything permanent in the way of birth control since it regulates my periods (another story altogether) plus as one of its benefits I read it can maintain bone density and keep your skin elasticity and suppleness, perhaps in the same way that HRT helps post-menopausal women? It never ceases to amaze me all the stuff that hormones or the lack thereof is responsible for, but it sure explains a lot. That I am going to have to literally work my butt off to maintain the weight loss at my age, lol.

My neices are all taller than me except for 2 (out of 8) so go figure.  They are all pretty fit.  I wouldn’t mind looking like them again.

I entered my adulthood at a mere 4’11" but for the most part have always been thinish with an hourglass figure (nature was generous in the chest and hips…I had always thought those were the extra inches that were afraid of heights).  In recent years I have been gaining a lot of weight without much effort (not so hour glass shaped anymore…just round) and I have been told that the weight actually makes me appear shorter.

I guess you’re joking, but .. evolution happens over generations, not to one person over a lifetime.
