I lke her.  She’s warm and charming.  She’s under the most intense scrutiny I can remember for a first lady.  Everything she does or wears is commented on.  She’s handling it beautifully.  We should just let her be herself.

I like the fact that she ignores the snipes and stays true to herself.  Living in a fishbowl can’t be easy and seems all public people have to come to terms with that-every sneeze and blink is reported.  She comes across with dignity and warmth.  I could go on extolling the virtues I see, but there will always be someone out there to find fault with what she says and does and she seems to be dealing with that very well.

I am interested that in the fact that she loves to say she is a product of the public school system but has never sent her children there. Also, her former teachers must often cringe at her poor grammar e.g. when she speaks about the "Reason is because" … so terribly redundant!

Michelle Obama is the total package. She’s intelligent, dedicated, and focused. She’s probably one of the most practical people I’ve seen in politics; just look at her wardrobe as well as her relationship with her mother and her husband. I’m not saying she’s perfect, but she’s just a smart lady who happens to be in the right place at the right time. And at least we’re hearing about her! (And for the right reasons.)

That no one has suggested she needs to get a personal trainer. She looks awful.

Her obvious intelligence is what I find most appealing about her.  And her charm and grace, which I guess pretty much goes with intelligence.  And of course, by being so clearly special, she validates my faith in Barack, as he was smart enough to marry her!

I am not interested in the big media frenzy.  I am sure Michelle isn’t either.   I think the first lady has shown grace underfire.   I did not realize that the right wingers see things upside down.  For example Michelle Obama said for the first time in her adult life she felt really proud of her country.  The word "really"  was lost in translation and the fact that Michelle Obama has not always been treated like a first class citizen.      She meant that she now knows for sure that country has made a great leap forward during the election .

She is well educated and a good role model.  Her girls seem delightful.  They as a couple and family are a fine example of the American family.

First ladies have a difficult role and fine line to walk.  They can’t be too political or too non-political.

A young woman who is real - as in genuine; and smart and caring

and who obviously has excellent self esteem as i don’t see her trying

to politically correct and talking in sound bites. The fact the republicans

are still knashing their teeth even harder should tell everyone we

have a class act president and presidential wife - finally. The Real

Thing.

Obviously, I’m "alone" on this one. I admire, the young woman I met last year who was in her senior year of high school, did some work for me, and was expecting a child. She moved ‘here’ to help her sister who had lymphoma, and five children - and painted her sister’s trailer inside and out for her before the sister came home from the hospital - while going to high school. After her "boyfriend" moved to be close by, and I asked her if they were marrying … the response was, "no, he won’t hold down a job - his grandparents spoiled him - I’ve seen this, now. I’m going to college to get my BSN." At graduation, this very economically poor senior won a full scholarship - to university for Nursing!

I admire the man down the street and over 2 who has no legs (from Nam) who is still working, and with his wife are caring for their 5 grandchildren full time. He works on the "phones" now, and he also ‘farms out’ contractors from "home." He doesn’t give up.

I admire the young woman who walked in her stocking feet, each day, to visit her newborn in NICU in Dallas, from "West Dallas." The young mother was put into our "foster family" program, and she had the courage to call our hotline and report that her "foster family" was making her work hard, so hard she could not leave - and truthfully, she was close to being seriously abused but she spoke up, and out, and we got her out.

These are the people I admire! Want some more?

I’m not captivated by her whatsoever. I don’t dislike her either. I do however think that the press is enamored by her which, in my opinion, isn’t good news reporting. But then again, when does the press get news reporting right anymore? Instead they give it to you with their own spin and the scary part of that is, people who watch the news, take it as gospel.

Wow. Such venom for a woman who is being admired worldwide. As an outsider, as in Canadian, I just have to tell you that this woman is universally admired by everyone I’ve heard speak about her.  Parsing the words from one comment seems so unfair.  I remember when she said she had never been so proud to be an American before, that she spoke from the heart.  Here is a woman who had likely been marginalized her whole life by virture of the colour of her skin and now she and her husband were accepted as equal.  Pretty powerful stuff.

I love her style but, by that, I mean the whole package.  Her fashion, her humour, her love of her family, her down-to-earthness, for want of a better phrase.

I hope you all cherish her and show the great American tradition of admiring the First Lady.  She deserves no less.

All of the above.  She’s a modern first lady.  I’m sure that for acceptance the prerequisites are intelligence & good taste.  She’s got those & so much more.  Not since Jacqueline Kennedy have we had such a well-rounded first lady.

Michelle Obama is authentic, intelligent both intellectually, legally and emotional.  She has a range within her which garners both reality of the struggle of living and the art of living under a microscope as privileged.  she has a strong sense of herself, and I believe she’s gorgeous, has wonderful children, well raised, a great husband, and that there’s something wrong when someone can’t bare their arms and pundits pundit endlessly. The era of facade is ebbing and truth, authenticity and beauty still remains.  Everyone I know loves and admires her tremendously.  Hillary Clinton was never forgiven for being intelligent, but I think the public recognizes intelligence and capacity, and she has both.  Now it’s up to the politicans to become aware of integrity, capacity, the ability to have vision for the future.  the old ways just don’t work.  So here’s to Michelle for having the courage and fortitude to be who she is.
