UV exposure is term associated with use of tanning beds et al - talk about self inflicted damage(!) The average person can sunburn in less than 45 minutes from the actual sun’s rays which can be deceptive on semi-cloudy days or as we head into cooler temps of autumn and winter. I recently noticed have acquired tanlines on shins and forearms from the capri style pants and t-shirts usually wear when out walking the dog 2-3- times a day. Those walks are only 15-30 minutes but the exposure obvioulsy adds up. Everyone should use PABAfree sunscreen facial moisturizers and body lotions to protect the skin they’re in! Also, the epa.gov website has a UV forecast map available so all can gauge their geographical area and plan accordingly.
Thanks for the answer (and thanks for not making me feel dumb). Obviously, I don’t go to tanning salons. I have olive skin. So it takes hours to tan. Therefore, I haven’t bothered in since my 20s. It’s not worth the effort to me. The end result is that I few, if any wrinkles. I’m 54 years old. Wish I could the same about sagging skin and bags under my eyes…
Laura, everything nice on top sinks to the bottom as we age … happens to me, too. However, I’m convinced more happens to us with illness, so be careful. I totally deconditioned in about 7 months during a breathing crisis cause from Polio as a child - no one knew what "it" was, thinking allergy, asthma, sleep disorder, etc. But, as the crisis continued, I was flabbing away like a chunky monkey! However, now, I’m just relieved to be alive.
Sun damage by my own choice. I’m not one to just lay in the sun hours on end, but do love the outdoors and sucking up some extra vitamin D the natural way. Damage isn’t bad, but although looking younger than my age of 56, I probably do have a few extra pigment spots and wrinkles than those who have always covered up from head to toe. I don’t plan on changing my ways- will continue to live life as naturally as possible.
Hint (Estee Lauder): Polls are great if it is for a collection of opinions to aid in a survey. Polls such as this one are a waste of time for nearly everyone.
I suggest, if you want to sell more of your products, at least to me, you offer instead small 5 minute articles on how-tos, i.e.: take off make-up, apply eye cream, apply facial mask, fill in eyebrows, apply make-up for various types of looks (sporty, day of shopping, work in office as opposed to work at a make-up counter), etc…. And to be different why don’t you make them age focused. When I was a teen I spent hours putting on and taking off makeup until I was happy with the look. At 45 I was no longer inclined to spend even 30 minutes applying makeup. Now over a decade later I am having trouble making my eyes look dresses instead of tired. Got any hints for me there? Maybe we older women would spend more on make-up if there were more articles targeted to our needs.
Man, oh, man. S A––you tell em! Love this ad for night repair––no matter what the hell you have, this stuff will take care of it. A miracle in a little bottle? But why I’m addressing you specifically, S A, is I want to know how you could get your eyes to look like dresses? Sometimes my eyes look like swishy skirts, but dresses? Maybe if we write directly to E L, the beauty magnets there would be able to help us along those lines. Some of you may remember Suzanne who sounded as though she looked like a million bucks. Her solution for everything? Grape seed oil––and she said she even cooked with it.
LOL, mine is Olive Oil! And, I do cook with it, too - and put it on my freshly showered skin, and shower (and wet my hair) before and after swimming; however, not EVOO for cooking but regular OO for cooking, and EVOO for non-cooked items - Ohhhhh YUM!
That "stuff" has been around, recycling for years by EL, and it can’t hold up to EL’s claims. I wish they’d move on, and really focus on what they do best - cosmetics, and perfume!
