How a Little Can Go a Long Way, by Millie McCcoy
When one woman wants to make a difference in the world, she discovers how big a difference one person could make.
I learned recently how something small can make a big difference and really make your day. Donations to AFCECO were down due to the worldwide economy, so they had no money to purchase firewood. If they bought it now, it would be much cheaper. She said $50 would do, so I sent the money. A few weeks later, these photos and a letter arrived:
Dear Ms. Millington McCoy,
I am pleased to update you on the donation of amount $50 you made for firewood on 09-19-2009.
We used your donation to purchase in winter season firewood for orphanages. I attached the photos.
Thanks once again from your donation.
Best Regards,
Mohammad Aimal Azizi

Great start!! For next winter let’s go one step farther together- let’s save the trees in already arid Afghanistan and set them up with solar panels, batteries and solar heating. Let’s help them set an example by using their resources wisely, it could spread….
The technology is available, and were there someone on the ground to help set it up (perhaps the original aid organization?), it could supply them with solar energy for years to come for their cooking, cleaning and heating.
I’m happy to kick it off with the first $100 donation.

I’m with Santory. I’ll match her $100.
