The Forums are a brilliant idea, however, I wish you would include one on trends in etiquette.

Hi Joni, These forums are nice.  I’d like to see more contribution from the women on the banner of your site.  Some we hear from regularly.  Others I’ve never seen a posting from.  Peggy Noonan is one I would like to hear more from.  I don’t agree with many of the statements I hear her make on Sunday talk shows so I would like to hear more from her to understand her point of view.  The latest statement I really questioned was this past weekend when she commented that no one ever talked about health care 20 years ago so why all the interest now.

I’d like to understand whether she really doesn’t get it that now so many people do not have insurance to cover their health care needs, that many are jobless through no fault of their own and we have a system where health benefits come from jobs, that the costs of health care keep going up much faster than inflation and income.

Since health care is so much front and center now, perhaps we need a chance for everyone in the wow community to weigh in on it.

Can you tell us where the absent Ms. Noonan is?

I have not always agreed with Pegg Noonan either. Actually I have disliked her writing and point of view for years. So it suprised me for a minute when she started to take whacks at Sarah Barbie Palin. Until I realized even Republican women have set some personal standards about intellectual rigor and the hard work it takes to achieve success in your given career.  We noted that few if ANY Republican elected women stepped forward to support Palin’s candidacy for Vice President. Nor have they showed up at this late date in support of anything she’s done. Why is that?  I am surprised that many of Palin’s supporters on Wowowow have not asked themselves the same questions. Republican women who have been in the trenches for a long time, who have been working tirelessly for their communities do not see themselves in Former Governor Palin. She  does not reflect their view of a women who has worked hard and earns their respect. Peggy Noonan recognizes that Sarah Palin is an egoist, with little broad understanding of the world outside of Alaska. She recognizes how much cache a good-looking woman has in this country. Dang, we sell cars, beer and breath mints with the faces and bodies of pretty women. The higher the heel, the tighter the skirt…seem a mantra for Sarah Barbie, but asked her how many newspapers she reads and gosh, we are being too tough on her. Thank goodness for Peggy’s contribution to Palin’s possible demise.  But all of these people earn their living by writing, so the extrapolation is no writee, no money…thus we must understand when they began to write just to publish, and often contoversy mixed with the hot topic of the moment works for them if not for a public looking for answers.  And then we mustn’t ever forget Ms. Noonan is a Republican…and playing the party line is always a secure option.
