Mr. wOw's Hair-Raising Shriver Report
deber: …wow at its best!
It has become a bit tedious… but then, I’m not west coast, nor would I want to be.
About Maria’s hair, I’m not sure if bobbing it off would bring out the angles (cheek/jaw/teeth) more. It seems all the Kennedy women wear/wore their hair long except for the mother. Must be some reasoning behind it all besides copycat.

Mary: most ‘transparent’ White House ever…and then does just about everything behind closed doors
I listened to John McCain speak on the subject of transparency on CNN last night. Right now, a small huddle of Democrats are deciding the finer points of the health bill… not a Republican in the group. Republicans represent at least half of the voters when Independents are counted in. What we have is a government for half the people. Doesn’t seem right.

deber: …anymore than I would call you stupid and gullible for voting for Barack Obama.
Good point. For people who claim not to watch the FNC, it’s surprising how many can comment on Glenn Beck.

To ensure that there are no safe havens for terrorists, would you support keeping troops in Afghanistan for the next five years?
F P: …where are you going to get them
Ya know what would end all this nonsense, and fast? Bring back the draft. No deferments. Young women as well as men. The liberals will soon wave the white flag, and Afghanistan will be a memory. The Dems are in complete charge now, this is their war. You can wrap it up in Bush and his crowd all you want, but they aren’t making the decisions to spill American blood in Afghanistan. When the war becomes personal (your son, your daughter), decisions will be make more carefully and there’ll be fewer wars. To me, this is all political. The Iraq war was political, and this is a continuation of it.

Leanette: If we leave now those women will be inslaved again - and in many cases tortured and killed. We need to stay and clean up the messes we make!
Whether we leave now or in five years from now, those women will suffer the same fate. Afghanistan is a collection of tribes occupying a territory, we never created that "country" or its "government." Their way of life reflects centuries. Why would we think if the U.S. doesn’t approve of how they conduct themselves, that they would even care? If anything, like all good tribes, they will defend their way of life even more forcefully. As I’ve said before, it would take two generations of education and occupation and Taliban containment to change the mindset of the population. The Taliban have to become grandfathers telling their stories around the campfire, not young men with weapons ready to defend their tribal way of life.

F P: ego
These guys we elect as presidents do have big egos, now don’t they. As for Afghanistan, it’ll take the occupation of troops (U.N., whatever) for a generation or two to make a difference… if a difference is even possible. That’s more like 50 years, not 5 years to change the way that place operates. Five years is a waste of time… the poppies will grow… the women will wear burkas… the Taliban will recruit more sons.
My opinion would be similar to yours, find a workaround for Afghanistan, but don’t commit American forces to this wasteful endeavor. I don’t think it’ll make us any safer. And frankly, we cannot get our own country out of the cesspool of corruption, what makes us think we can make a difference in Afghanistan?

Sinking Dollar Fair Warning to Obama, by Liz Peek
C jay: I do believe he has our nation’s best interest first in his mind,…
Obama has his version of our nation’s best interest in his mind. If you happen to agree with his version, you can relax. If not, best be vigilant for changes that are not in our best interest.

Liz: Who’s Sorry Now?
Not I.
The revelation of Letterman’s lifestyle is not a surprise, and he need not apoligize for it. But, for heaven’s sake, let’s not pretend to make comedy out of another’s life, particularly Sarah Palin’s young daughters.
From my POV, I don’t care if he stays on or is fired. He’s an old man who’s earned a living at the expense of others, and time will take care of him eventually.

Nothing is as youthful as a full head of hair, but if that can’t be, then let it be.
No wigs, no comb overs, no hair plugs, no spray jobs, please. A mature man is as handsome as a younger one.
