wOw's Views on the News: Poll Says Majority of Dems Want Clinton as Vice President

Lorraine, I totally resent your accusation. What astounds me is how people like you read something so hateful into someone else’s opinions when they don’t agree with you. I don’t think Obama should be president. I agree with Mose that he is full of empty promises, etc. It has nothing to do with him being a black man which he isn’t really since he’s 50% white. I would never dislike someone because of their race as many in this country do. I dislike the idea of him being president because of him as a man, not because he identifies as a black man. Is this clear enough for you? If it’s not, then I feel sorry for you if my opinion makes you nauseous.

wOw's Views on the News: Poll Says Majority of Dems Want Clinton as Vice President

>> Sorry, but I think as affable as Obama is, he is full of empty promises. Hillary is the smartest and best candidate for president — sometimes I feel like I’m one of the few ladies who feels that way — where are you girls? << Mose, I’m here and there are a few others who are walking with you on this. Hillary Clinton for president. Obama back to the senate where he belongs. If our country makes the mistake of voting Obama in for president, I’d like to see Sen. Clinton is on the Supreme Court. She has way too much going for her to be vice president, that is, unless Obama gets assassinated (not that I would want this to happen, but it is a possibility with race and religion hate alive and well in this country.)

What is your definition of retirement?

>>I was wondering what kind of business you have rachel?<< www.bb4wa.com It’s a 4-wheel drive training business for all kinds of sport utility vehicles. He does the off-road training for people and groups that want to get to see remote areas of the back country, and businesses that use 4-wheel drives in their daily operations. He also writes articles on safety. I do the rest of the stuff, like run our website, do all scheduling, respond to email, answer phone calls, proofread and edit his articles. I understand your comment about the strain as in our business fuel is a huge concern for both us and our clients. We lived in Colorado for many years and did the majority of our work throughout the west and southwest. However, people in other parts of the country kept requesting our services (my husband is known in this industry all over the world) so two years ago we sold our home in western Colorado and moved into a motor home so we could travel around the country to work. Just in time for fuel prices to explode. Ouch. So now we’re figuring out our next step because of this. It’s definitely a challenge with great stresses and great rewards for us. I hope it is the same for you, Bella Mia. What is your business? As an aside, I love the traveling life ‘cause I always have my own bed, office, kitchen and bath with me! :)

Marie Brenner's Advice for Estranged Siblings: Make the Call, Get on a Plane, Just Go

>>In a way I felt my mother caused this divide by always over-protecting my sister and trying to solve her problems. My mother later told me that she thought that since I was the strong one, she could lay more things on me rather than my sister.<< Carol L., since the question was about her brother, I didn’t even think about commenting about my sister. Your words are mine. I’ve always felt like I was the only one. Thank you for sharing.

Should Sen. Clinton pack it in?

>>I am so done with this question.<< Me, too. This constant repeating the same things about HRC is boring. And now we have someone putting a lot of her points in those shouting capital letters because she thinks we can’t hear her. Over and out.

Marie Brenner's Advice for Estranged Siblings: Make the Call, Get on a Plane, Just Go

I’m in the camp of those who create their own families. I have a brother who is a mean, vindictive sociopath. His life is all about him, what he wants and how he can con somebody to get it. Nobody else matters. He’s one of the ones this quip was made for: "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me." I stopped turning the other cheek for him a long time ago for my own sanity.

What is your definition of retirement?

My husband and I have owned our own company for 21 years. To us, this is retirement because we love what we do for work, people continue to want our services, we decide when we want to fit in vacations, and we only have to answer to ourselves. We have the best of all worlds. Everyday when we wake up, we’re grateful that we get to do what we want and get paid for it.

Should Sen. Clinton pack it in?

Why is there a “new” old question about this every day? I hate coming to this forum and seeing the same thing over and over. When the popular votes are as close as they are, similar to the votes on this poll, I say let it play out. I wish there were no superdelegates to muck this up. There are many of us who think that Sen. Clinton is the only one who has the guts to deal with the mess that Bush is leaving. I don’t have anything against Sen. Obama, but based on how he presents himself, I don’t think he’s the one to be President.

Which do you think is Sen. Clinton's primary motivation for staying in the race?

Quote: “Perhaps more women in the workplace should set such high goals for themselves. Of course, as soon as a woman does that, she is immediately labeled as a bitch, a witch, selfish, evil, delusional, etc. Sadly, it is often other women who create these labels.” Chere Shaw, This would have been an excellent post in the Question of the Day “Are women harder on each other than they are on men?” It totally sucks that for the most part, women are their own worst enemies.

Which do you think is Sen. Clinton's primary motivation for staying in the race?

Alessan O, I am in agreement with your comments. Even since I heard Obama’s speech at the Democratic convention I knew he would be running because so many high-profile people got caught up in his amazing skills as a charismatic orator. Sen. Clinton believes she is a better candidate for the job and I believe it, too.

Cokie Roberts on the Chances of an Obama-Hillary Ticket

In my fantasy world, Hillary Clinton as President and Barack Obama as Vice-President makes the most sense. Her experience, connections and tenacity makes her the prime choice. His charisma, speech-making ability, and his “let’s take the high road” attitude would make him the perfect vice-president to travel the world and bring back our Bush-made enemies. But in my real world, I really don’t want Sen. Clinton to be president because of the horrendous mess that Bush will be leaving for the next president. I can just hear the pundits now after she has been in office for a week as they incessantly and mean-spiritedly babble about how little she has done to fix the U.S. problems and it must be because she’s post-menopausal or something equally stupid. Thinking of their ugly jabbering makes my blood run cold. I realize that by now Sen. Clinton must have really thick skin with all that she has gone through between her husband and her candidacy. But it’s my own thin skin I’m worried about listening to so many put down the first woman leading this country.

What is the most life-changing book you've ever read?

Angela’s Ashes” by Frank McCourt changed the way I looked at my own problems. The way those children lived in the slums of Limerick, Ireland put my life in a whole new perspective.

Everything I Hate About Myself I See in Hillary, by Judy Bachrach

I agree with you, Mugsy. This bashing of Sen. Clinton painfully reminds me of the other thread on this board, the one about women being harder on other women: http://www.wowowow.com/question/are-women-harder-each-other-they-are-men and I’m hating it.

Are controversial advances like genetically modified food the answer to world hunger?

Johanna, this is what I’ve been saying for a long time. But, obviously, it’s not working as I see when people are on tv (a game show or such) and announce they have 7 or 12 or 15 children and the audience claps and I get nauseous. Anyway, back to GM food. Right now, there is lots of GM food in the markets but there is no law in place to let the public know what they are eating. Many people are already eating it and they don’t even know. One of the most heavily genetically modified foods is corn and it’s in almost every processed food in some form or another. I want to know what I’m putting my my body. There is no way I will knowingly eat GM food which is why I try to stick to organically grown food which, by defintion, cannot be genetically modified.

Have you turned into your mother? If so, how?

I hope not. Even though she had three children, my mother always put my father first. He got angry if she didn’t so I only remember my own pain of being low on her priority list. I was a goody two-shoes and until I left home spent way too much time trying to be perfect so she (and my father) would notice me other than when they needed me to do something for them.
