Sheila Nevins Is Still Waiting and Hoping

Sheila,

I agree with you. And may I say, you write you so well.

Joan Ganz Cooney Prays When She's Scared

Joan,

What scientific studies were those, and who wrote them?

Tell us: What about First Lady Michelle Obama most interests you?

Rachel,

That is not the correct quote. The correct quote is: "For the first time in my adult lifetime I’m REALLY proud of my country."

You can see Michelle Obama speaking this on You Tube. You can see her on a replay of her appearance on The View. You can find it in numerous places - the correct quote, that is.

11 Celebrity Looks You Can Steal – Without Plastic Surgery, by Expert Dr. Oz Garcia

Hi Elizabeth,

Thank you for mentioning the whole wheat pasta! I’m going to research that a little more. If I can find a low carb whole wheat pasta, that would be perfect. I’m pre-diabetic. So I really have to cut the carbs. I’ve got a whole wheat pasta that has 40 grams of carbs (less dietary fiber of 5g makes it 35, I guess) per serving size of 2 oz! So this one’s out. I’m going to look around some more. Hopefully I can find a low carb whole wheat pasta. I would be in heaven. Thanks again. I am a woman on a mission now!

No More White Anything in my Kitchen Pantry!

Ladies,

I cannot tell you how quickly you will drop at least five pounds, by simply giving up bagels, pasta, white rice, white flour. It is amazing. Just open your pantry and fridge, and start tossing. You won’t believe it.

I do miss pasta so much. A friend just told me about Yam Bean Noodles (Shirataka) and Tofu Shirataka. Apparently they have No Carbs! I’m going to buy some this weekend, and experiment with some recipes.

Are you more worried about the economy given the violent protests in London this week?

Actually, this question doesn’t make sense, and I’m not sure why I posted to it.

As if the protestors in London have the ability to destroy our economy?

Are you more worried about the economy given the violent protests in London this week?

No, I’m not more worried about the economy, given the protests in London. I don’t think the protests have anything to do with it. (I wish I had taken to the streets myself, during the last eight years… I’m sure the media would have come out in full force to film me in one of those out of the way fenced off protest areas.)

I’m not worried about the economy. Sure, I’m concerned; I’m aware. Our business has taken a hit; our customer/client base is affected by the economy, and therefore our business is. We are having to be real creative in our efforts to grow the business right now. And at home, I’m cutting back on spending, etc. like everyone else.

However, I know that President Obama "gets it" and I have every confidence in him that things will get better. It will be hard for a long time, but having him as my President gives me strength. If he can get up every day and fight his miserable fight, I can surely sacrifice for as long as it takes.

Bush Extended Secret Service for Daughters

DeBurca,

Well said! I actually pushed myself back from my computer just now, stood up and applauded you for what you just said.

Stevie Nicks: This Is What 60 Looks Like Now (Video)

Thank you, Wow! Can’t get enough of Stevie. She just rocks!

And she pours her heart out. Love her Trouble in Shangri-La cd. Especially the songs, Every Day and Too Far from Texas. I am not sure, but I have a feeling that these songs are autobiographically correct. She’s not afraid to tell the truth.

Love her version of Crash Into Me.

And she does an amazing version of Silent Night. What a hauntingly beautiful voice.

Countrywoman,

"… the poet laureate of Wow." … I love that. Yes, she is.

Have a pleasant weekend.

Congratulations to all!

Phyllis, how I love your similes and metaphors, and the substance behind the cadence.

Rembrandt? Picasso? O'Keeffe? Tell us: Who is your favorite artist?

Lauri,

Hope you didn’t mind my "pushy" post here. Sometimes my nurturing side takes over, and I interpret comments as asking for help. And sometimes that wasn’t the case. In any event, I wish you a pleasant evening.

Rembrandt? Picasso? O'Keeffe? Tell us: Who is your favorite artist?

Lauri,

If you are interested, you could take a class in art history, or art or music appreciation. Or visit a museum and take a tour. You could see what your local library has to offer in educational materials. Take it slow. There is so much. You could choose the Impressionist period painters one month, then study Expressionism, then Cubism, etc. Too much to study all at once. And don’t tell anyone; keep it a secret. You could gain some information, some insight, some self-confidence, and maybe you would be more comfortable in discussions. No one has to know about your efforts. Just surprise them all! And remember, if you love it, if the art speaks to you, then it’s good. There’s no right or wrong in art. And no one can tell you otherwise. Best,

Lauri,
