Yes applause us, it’s not easy to actually make a living as an artist… And to be able to paint or design want we want… I don’t know about all you guys but I have a hunch from your posts Iris and Georgia ( which I’ll try to get back too : ) ) I don’t do paintings to fit in the buyers bedroom or as I say “over the couch paintings” if they by chase to be in the color range that’s fine… but I hope you buy it because you connect to it in some way. The Art world you would think would be very liberal very fair but they still have the stigma of a mans world. And that hits us in the old pocket like everyone else. I personally I am caught in a catch 22, can’t afford all my materials needs to paint to make a living, I do get alimony but even though I fought for the money to cover supply costs ( and he is an artist too ) to his lawyers it seem not to be a cost that he should have to pay for… I put on hold a few paintings over 28 years you would think like farmers who are paid not to plant certain things, as artist’s I should have been paid to not have the time to paint. I raised three in the arts men two graduated one from College, Pomona College with a Disney Scholarship, and UCSD Revelle with honers, and a student at Corden Bleu. This is the site where you can brag about your kids isn’t it ? Do men have these same concerns ? I think not. But here I am and if I am a true artist then I well find a way, we women are resourceful if not anything else. Iris I have tried to offer my help to some non-funded art programs one in particular in Pasadena that is run out of two nice trailers that moves to where they can stay free, and offer art classes to the kids in the neighborhood, doesn’t that sound so great. ! Art on wheels to go… Remember some of you in elementary school they used to have trunks come on the playground ..some had animals from say a farm so you would know were a egg comes from and milk is made ( it doesn’t come from a pig !)…..one truck had an elephant, snakes, boy !! they don’t do that anymore the PETA would string them up ( the people ). I have met sooo many artists out their who have a-muse-ed me, sometimes we need a muse to get us going when we get stuck and are in idle. And yes the Art Gallery’s Shows are in full swing doors opened step in. All the work of months gets hung out like laundry. To be liked, awed or enlighten, euphorically moved, mad, digested, feared and motivated all is good, all instantaneous emotions to months of work. So to celebrate this colorful time, get out there support your local, art clubs, or fly to the Louvre. Experience the inner working of a creative mind, buy from the up and coming artist of tomorrow. Art should not be a fashion statement in one season out the next. It’s a dream capsulated with colors on a canvas, or shapes from the earths elements, craved, pasted, printed. It’s still….. it waves, sways, it turns on or wears out. It smells or leaves the stench of the past or the fragrance of dawn…… it’s touched softly or hands off .. It’s ART go see it, make it……

I have to put myself first to be honest. Things have been lean to the point at times “…well I refill my prescription or right now go to the Dentist ?..” So I would pay all dents to my Lawyer for taking the most of my settlement at the end of a divorce. Pay the remainder of what owed to my husband for the house so I can stay, credit card were I first payed the down on the Lawyer. Fix up repairs on the house. Make sure my 87 year old Mom doesn’t have to ask anymore “Can I buy this ? Set up a budget. Then and only then well I consider what’s the best place for this money. Yes the Arts that has all but evaporated from the school system would be a goal. Art has been my life and always has been apart of many a decision in which road to take. And helping women who may need a boast to handle perhaps a life after a divorce, or a surgery when they don’t have insurance. I would try to keep it in Burbank, the shelters always needs help to repair their offices, refill there shelf’s the lines have been longer with people who were their just last year giving, it only takes one bad break or decision to have you standing in a line.

It’s very difficult to paint when focused on economy or can I pay the taxes (which I just did because my x just gave me some money owed) but 2008 is just around the corner and well not have the money. I look for and like scheduled occurrences, the I feel safe as long it’s time to now eat, paint, sleep I took advantage of “safe” and of course you don’t see that till it’s gone, that can’t be good.
