Liz Smith: The Apocalypse Arrives – Is It '2012' the Movie or Is It … Sarah Palin in 2012?

Of ALL the things I’ve read tonight (and I’ve read them ALL) your succinct coments made THE most sense! Love it!!

Liz Smith: Renée Zellweger – The 'One and Only'!

As am I - in fact if I wasn’t feel so "lady-like" I’d use a much stronger word than disgusted. The people who can’t see their noses in front of their faces deserve to have them cut off (or something to that effect)!

Which environmental assault is your skin most affected by?

Mary - Me too! From CA to AZ 8 yrs ago and have been a sun-worshipper all my life - so I guess all four elements (actually not water!!) would count against my skin. We had a condo in Palm Springs for years and I would "lay out" from 9 - 4 days on end! (My logic was that tan fat always looked better than white fat!) I still love a tan but now it comes from a bottle and I finally (at age 70)started using SPF on the face! Better late than never I guess!!

Do you drink coffee?

Love my cup in the morning (especially since I’ve discovered Creme Brulee creamer!) while reading all my WOW posts.

Liz Smith on Social Security, AARP and the 'Stigma' of Being a Senior

I love every minute of it!! Especially the perks and discounts!! My logic is that as long as I don’t look it, or act it - the # is just a number on the calendar and who cares about that???!!!

LIZ SMITH FLASH! Obamas, Clintons Play Safe at Martha's Vineyard

Chips - how do you feel about someone dying from the AZ heat if you can’t get the Obama’s??

Liz Smith: Brits Survey Alaska's Sarah

Beth - I sooo appreciate your definition of tinnitus - I will have to ingrain THAT into my brain to help defray the incessant noise that the real tinnitus has imposed on me ever since a high fever/bronchitis 5 yrs ago. It is 24/7 jet engine noise and I have, of course, tried everything known (and a few thiings unknown!) to at least abate it. Nothing pleasant about it, but your description held in my head may, on occasion, give me a smile!

Learning to Focus

Elizabeth - I totally relate to your thoughts about your father. My adorable dad died in 1972 - waaaay to early ( he was a vibrant 64) and there isn’t a day that I don’t think about him. He was a minister/evangelist and had a wonderful saying for just about every situation. And now - I find myself using those same sayings and smiling with fond memories - grateful for his legacy, wisdom and love. My children lost their father 6 yrs ago and their pain has begun to blur as they recall the joy he brought to their lives.

Do you think Jackie Kennedy and Bobby Kennedy had an affair?

Gloria - Extremely well-written, expressed AND delivered! Once more - Amen!!

Do you think Jackie Kennedy and Bobby Kennedy had an affair?

Just have to add my "Amen" to ALL the above posts - and that, for me is a rarity. I, too, will not buy, read or sensationalize by discussing the book, the affair or any other trash about these beloved people - "let them rest in peace" is the best statement of all!

Liz Smith: The Beginning of the Jackson Afterlife Saga – But Leave the Kids out of It!

L.C.- no you’re not the only ones up - and I totally agree with both of you - however I just don’t care! About all the MJ hoopla I mean. And don’t care enough to write about ALL the things I don’t care about concerning him. I do wholeheartedly agree with Liz, however, leave the poor kids alone!!!

Friends, Family Rush to Farrah Fawcett's Bedside as Health Worsens

I couldn’t agree with you more Ladyhawke - but I would add spending billions on an unnecessary war is also a $$ drain and that money would have gone a long way towards research - of any kind of disease. I wonder how many politicians’ families have to be affected over and over with hideous diseases (that we refuse to fund research for) before they realize the importance of taking care of America and the lives here at home -whether it’s in cures or healthcare!

Julia Reed Answers the Media Takedown of Elizabeth Edwards

My only comment is that from experience I know there is a vast difference between "forgiving" and "forgetting"!

Joan Juliet Buck on Her Father and Dementia

Thank you thank you thank you for putting into words EXACTLY what I went through with my darling mother. She had had TWO quadruple by-pass operations (ages 64 & 74) so we thought for sure her heart would "take" her - but NO - Alzheimers was the culprit and she lived - if one can call it that - til she was 92. All of what you wrote about is so very true - but almost the hardest thing for me was when I went to visit her in the "home" (where we finally had to place her) and she would look at me and say "Hi beautiful blue eyes". No clue that I was her daughter and had received the gift of blue eyes from her! I’m finally able to remember all the good stuff through the years and put the last few years in the dimmer recesses of my memory. AND I try to keep MY mind and body active and stay up with current research to hopefully be able to spare my kids the pain of what I went through with their darling grandma.
