Biden eh? Well all I can say is that this ticket is head and shoulders (and any other body parts) above McCain and whoever he decides to drag along with him. Now if we can ALL just keep him from dragging the country further down the “Bush path” maybe there will be hope for all of us yet. Not to mention keeping our homes, buying groceries and maybe even putting gas in our cars (sorry W - you might have to tighten the wallet a bit!). I remember listening to Obama’s speech 4 years ago (I was in a hotel room in Virginia Beach with a girlfriend while at a convention) and saying to her that he was definitely someone to watch in the future. De - I always enjoy reading your posts but the above one takes the cake!! You hit the nail on the proverbial head - wish everyone in the country could/would read it and ponder their scary futures if McCain (God forbid) wins!!!

AMEN to all your above words! It’s so weird - I read the initial posting by WOW and then all the threads that follow and by the time I’m through - they’ve usually said so much of what I would have wanted to say that I just don’t bother to write! But other times, the written messages inspire me to voice my own thoughts - and you’re right it definitely is a form of catharsis!

Right on Liz - when you talk about the “right” of any star to make any movie they want - you hit the nail on the head! Whether any of us WANT to see that movie is our choice! I’m still a Tom fan - even though I might not see this particular movie - I’ve always enjoyed his work. Rain Man is one of my all time favorite movies!

Joan - no matter what topic you’re writing about or what question you’re answering - your messages always hit home and make me think and/or smile. I hadn’t even thought of the word “transgressions” in a very long time (as a preacher’s kid I heard it a lot!) but so glad that you brought it back to my attention. And just like Edith Ann, my mind wanders joyously and nowadays nobody even notices!

I don’t know how I can agree with so many of the above threads - but I do! AND the scariest thing of all is thinking that McCain might win (no matter who Obama has on the ticket). It’s a possibility that has me wishing I could clone myself and work twice as hard for Obama. This country simply canNOT tolerate any more of the destructive actions of the last eight years!

Something finally made me homesick! I moved from So. CA seven years ago to the desert sands of AZ. Just reading about the sunsets at favorite places - Santa Barbara, Stearns Wharf, Carmel, Big Sur and all the So. CA beaches at sunset - I can close my eyes and smell the ocean, feel the wind and see the beautiful red sky. I must confess nights in AZ with clear skies (no smog where I live) with bright stars and full moons through wispy clouds are gorgeous - along with red/pink sunsets over western mountains. But nothing takes the place of Big Sur - either sunset or sunrise! Since I’m writing in the middle of the night, I guess I am a night owl after all.

I know exactly what you mean. My mom was a preacher’s wife also - and we had fairly strict rules about clothing when I was growing up. No jewelry, no nail polish, no sleeveless blouses etc. But she always managed to look adorable. She was 4’11” tall (my dad was 6’1”) and she pretty much held everything together. She had 2 triple by-pass heart operations, one at age 64 and another ten years later. During her pre-op physical for the second one the intern asked her how old she was and she said “74”. He said “no - how old are you?” She again replied 74. This went on for a couple more times and finally he said “but you like like you’re in your late 50’s or early 60’s”. I think she almost jumped out of bed and kissed him, at least about busted a blood vessel blushing! She too lived to 92 and even though Alzheimers had taken over her mind she was sweet and precious to the very end.

I am an addict of “In Plain Sight” - so glad it’s been picked up for next year. Great writing and awesome casting - finally something unique from ordinary shows - Mary and Lesley and both superb!

Elizabeth - - I know if I was Carol - I would have been overjoyed to get rid of him!! He seems to be rather glib at covering up things also - i.e. - not in “Bush’s” camp, all his other rhetoric - frankly I don’t believe a word that comes out of his mouth. I truly fear for our beloved country if he is elected - we simply cannot sustain a continuation of government of the last eight years!!

You get an “atta girl” from me Ms. Liz!! Love ALL your comments and your column - it gives me a break from all those other “issues”!

I soooo agree with you Phyllis - and my main concern is to cleanse the nation of the last four years of stupidity, incompetence and utter disregard for the nation as a whole for their own self-serving causes (Halliburton, big oil etc etc). And my greatest fear is that McCain would merely continue on with these policies - he appears to me to be a warmongering hawk! And that scares me way more than HRC and Obama put together!

ALL of it - I truly couldn’t decide between them - and now I’m starved just thinking of all the wonderful things I could have if I had one dish from each category! Guess I’ll go have a Slim-Fast for breakfast.
