What television show do you miss the most?

American TV shows are influencing the young people in China. Many of my friends always wait in front of the Internet in the weekend for the new series, such as Prison Break, Lost, Heroes, Sex and the city and so on. I love the scenario and the culture and imagination of these stories. However, my never miss TV show is Growing Pains which played in the 1990s in China, and the Friends what the best materials when I began learing English. Growing Pains opens a door for Chinese audiences to learn the life in USA, and gives a lesson to many families on how to get along with family members and show love to them, -in traditional culture, love always is hidden and hard to speak out. Friends may be the very popular English materials for English learners, we learn the culture of USA and the authentic experessions and slangs.

What television show do you miss the most?

The first TV set, -unforgotten memory. My family bought the first White-Black TV when I was 3 in 1980s, it was rare and expensive which could cost many years of salaries of the whole family. So everyday, there were many people to come to see what it was and what it could do. There were only 3 channels, and it played only few hours one day. But people still waited beside it to see what it showed. The development of technology and economy in China is huge, and when I was 5 years old, our family had the Color TV; When I was 13, my parents limited the time I was in front of the TV which could affect my study; When I was in the University, LCD TV had been in my family and there are over 50 channels to choose including the HONGKONG programes and Discovery Channel. Now, we could see the TV program on the Internet, and comment the news in the BBS, and we also could see ABC, CNN and TNT channel to see what is happening in the world and the sports events LIVE. TV set changed the world, to make the world close.

wOw Scenes: Our Desks

I really envy “Jane Wagner’s desk”, —it looks like a liberary! It must be an amazing feeling when you stand out of them! MARVELOUS DESK!

If you could live inside a movie, which would it be?

I really a sci-fi freak, and I usually wonder how it would be when I have a chance to travel past and future, just like “BACK TO THE FUTURE”!

How many times have you been divorced?

Marriage seems a far-away thing to me, when many of my childhood friends have been married. However, one of them divorced in one year since she got married. I was very puzzled of that. Whether they loved each other or not? My parents have been married for 26 years, and they had the problems sometimes that once time I really doubted they would finish the relationship. But they finally found the balance point and life continued. I hope I would find the MR RIGHT one day, get married, have children and enjoy the life. When we have the different opinions, we could sit down and calm down to talk about it instead quarrel and blame to each other. Bella Mia, thanks your words that gave me confidence. “Life is good, and getting better. “

Marie Brenner's Advice for Estranged Siblings: Make the Call, Get on a Plane, Just Go

I am the only child in my family as the “one-child” police in China has been carried out in 1980s. I spent my childhood with peers in the kindergarten and never felt loneliness. “ORAGINE AND APPLE” is not my trouble and I am lucky enough to own the whole love of the family. However, I still felt the pressure from my cousins because our parents always compare each other’s child who is more intelligent, more polite, more ambitious which made us tired and uncomfortable. To be honest, I am really jealous one of my cousines. She is a little younger than me , beautiful and nice. She is also a postgraduate and popular in the campus. It seems that she owns everything she wants, and never worries anything. My parents compared us since we were little girls and it sometimes made me doubt that they preferred her to be their daughter. So on every festival the whole BIG family gets together, I usualy keep silent when they talk about her and me. I always feel unconfident when I stay with her. However, there was a talk changing something. This Spring Festival (Chinese New Year), I came to her family and stay with her for several days. It was the first time we talked to each other till to the mid-night. I finally realized that every person has his own stories not just the happiness, and he just shows his bright facet and covers his others. My PERFECT cousin also has her sadness and dark secrets! She even said she envid me because I could do what I like without caring about what others said. Then we laughed that we finally understood we “cheated” each other so many years! The holidays we spent together were the happiest time for these years. We cooked together, shopping together, watching films together. Sometimes, we wondered that if we were not the cousins we have been good friends many years before.

What is your definition of retirement?

Thank you for your attention! I am fine and the Northeast China is not the area of the earthquake. However, I really felt sorry for the people who are now in the areas undergoing the death and injuries. The whole nation is trying its best to rescue them. God blessing them!

What is your definition of retirement?

retirement is the beginning of life, and especially for those who’ve had no choices before.” Retirement is just like a freedom, especially for who has worked hard. I usually have the same feeling that we are busy on something, and have no time to company with our family, watch our favorite films and do what we like, that drived me crazy and I really doubt why I had to do this job and for what? Although I am still a student in the campus, when I face what I choose as my career, I really feel confused because I am afraid when I pursue something, I would lose something , including the freedom. sherman amsel, I wish you have a wonderful time to do what you like, enjoying your time!

What is your definition of retirement?

Why would you ever stop doing what you love?” Mugsy Peabody, I am all for your opinion! If you love one thing, the work is limitless, not about the money. In our country people retired from their work when they are 55. But it is not exactly that it depends on the work they do. In the past time, people prefer to work for one company for their whole life , such as my grandparents and my parents. However, with the developement and the open minds our young generation accepting, we would like to do what we like and maybe change our jobs many times because of the salaries, the work environment, the opportunity for promotion and privarate reasons. So the retirement would not mean what it meant before. If we have the ability and could work as we will, I think we even opened our business when we were in the 70s. For another thing… When you mentioned baby boom, I felt the pressure of the population for a nation and its society. It is not denied that in China, finding a good job is really a hard work than work itself to a fresh young people who is just out of school. The competition sometimes is very harsh. However, many young people don’t dare to face them, they would to face the challenges and prove their values.

What is your favorite possession?

I really have no anything worth too much money, and maybe the most important possession is my PC. But if I was asked what is my favorite possession, they are my dairies and CDs that recorded my growth. I have written dairy for 15 years since my 9 years old. I usually read my teenage dairies, which were full of my mood of sadness, happiness, loneliness of my growth. I could recall my first love, the day I said love to him, the night he kissed me and the doom day he left me. I always remebered I celebrated for my entrance to my dream university, I held the first party for my friend’s birthday, I lost my favorite cat. The dairy brought me travelling through the space and time, and it reminds me my time, my experience, my emotion. When I was very old and I read these dairies and saw the vedio and photos, I would experience the ages again.

What, or whom, do you take for granted?

I take them for granted : I am young enough and just mature a little, so I could hold the dreams of the life. I am a little child in my parents’ eyes and a knowledgable lady in my friends’ minds. I am living a world full of challenge and chance to prove my value to the society. I am not rich but I am not poor that I could accept the further education without living a hard life. I am never worried about my diet whether contains too much fat or not, I just like to eat what I like. I have health parents and they love me very much!

wOw's Views on the News: Is it a Mistake to Hold the Olympics in Beijing?

I really love watching the sports events and especially the Olympics, and I could enjoy the power and artistry of the sports. Every four years, I stayed at home (in summer holidays, I have enjoy the 4 Olympics since I was 9. ) and watched the Olympics over many nights because of the time difference. Now, Chinese people have a chance to enjoy it without less or even no sleep! Dona Howllet and other funs of Olympics in USA, it would be a tough work to stay till mid-night to enjoy your favorite matches Live. But I think Olympics deserves everything! I heard that there is a channel run in USA recently, which introduces China’s culture, tradition, history, beautiful scenes and so on. I hope you would learn more about China through the programs.

Dale B, I really hope that you have chance to come to China and breath the air~ Ok, the pollution of China had impressed many people, however, something has changed for these years. You would find a clean and lovely city, named Beijing; You would enjoy the sunshine and white beach in Qingdao, which is another venue of Olympics for sailing. I experience the change of the environmet, and I am proud of it when I annoyed it many years ago.
