It's been 19 years since the protests in Tiananmen Square. What do you think about China today?

“Americans should think about patience and going forward in peace, like the Tibetans. Peace and diplomacy. Let Tiananmen Square be an example of what should not be done.” Thank you, Jackie Celi. We, Chinese people never let Tiananmen Square not be done. The world is transparent, however, we never get what we want. Take Tibet issue for example, what we know in China and what you know in America are different, however, there is only one truth. When The Ole Crone compared Tibet Issue with the Rape of Nanking, I was shocked and almost angry! IT IS NEVER THE TRUTH THAT CHINESE MILITARY SLAUGHTER! Please give us evidence, I ‘m begging! We know how advanced your spy satelites that even the number of a car could be discerned! Then why they show the pictures of the SLAUGHTER? LET THE WHOLE WORLD KNOW HOW CRUEL CHINESE?! What you have known is from the media and internet, and the description from other people. You may say you have seen the pictures on the internet and they told you the truth, but do you know most of this pictures are photoed by CHINESE and are “cut” and “modified” by some foreign media? Please tell me where you get your information, thanks very much!

It's been 19 years since the protests in Tiananmen Square. What do you think about China today?

The Ole Crone The Ole Crone I have to admit that I NEVER read these books you are talking about, maybe the reason is what you have criticized on the Mao Regime. However, I have read other books to reflect the spirit and life of that time by Chinese people. My parents experienced that dark time in China, they told me it was a confusing world as everything was crazy. There are so many reasons for that distorted period, although the government had its responsibility for it, the CUTURAL REVOLUTION is not simple attributing to the leaders, the systems and the society regime! I hope you have learned the history of China between the middle of 19th century to the middle of 20th century which is the most disgraceful period invaded and ruled by other countries, then you would found why so many peope were crazy to admire their Chairman Mao! He gave us freedom from be slaved by other nations and establish the country for Chinese, EVEN he has made a mistake for his people and created an enviroment what you believe is a hell without democracy, his contribution is never forgotten by Chinese people! Moreover, when the new China was founded, there were too many problems for a new country to deal with, it has no advanced technology, no modern industry, and its people were in the poverty and were illiterate and have been ruled by the Kings and landlords for thousands years. Just such a country like China, what its people should have their belief in, when they had the right to master their life and had their freedom to find happiness and could own their possessions due to the lead of their government? In CHINESE people’s hearts, the democracy is to share everything with each other and get together to undergo the hardest time in that time! OK,when times went in to the 20 years ago, China has opened its door to the world for 10 years since 1979, the life in China has changed a lot, both in materials and spirits. A few People have accepted or were accepting the education of the university, learning the world outside and having their thinkings about FREEDOM! They wanted to establish a country full of democracy and could open their mouth freely. It was really such a ideal society that it was difficult to realize in that time. Have you learned what has happened in the world in 1989 and 1990? The significent thing is “Soviet Union broke down”! If the Chinese government didn’t take measures and even the extreme measures to save its country, then today, China would become the SECOND RUSSIA! I am no deliberate to offense RUSSIA, but we should clearly realize that since the social regime was changed in Russia, its people got the freedom they dreamed while lost their economy as well which they used almost 20 years to recover! Then what it was when China FOLLOWING Russia? I believe that when the society was unstable and its developing stagnate and even go in reverse, especially like China which was in the weak position in the world and has no economic base to guarantee its people, its people would lost their life what they used to own and even no food! Then tell me why we need the democracy? Don’t forget the philosophy “the infrastructure decides the superstructrue”, in another word, there’s no food, there’s no human right! Ok, look at China at present, you have seen the giant CHANGE in China, especially the materials. We, CHINESE PEOPLE enjoy the life that our parents never imagined! We could decide our life, earn our life on our own merits! Through hard work, we could have the life we dream, a big house, a car and a lover. We also enjoy the freedom in speaking on the internet, to express our opinions and debate some issues about politics and society. OF COURSE, the democracy we understand is different with you, if some of us oppose the leaders and call them down and have rally in public, it’s still restricted. The reason? In my opinion, people could be influned by others especially when they are young and full of vigor and they could not tell the white and black so that they would be tricked by some individuals or some organizations who have ulterior motives. Take myself for example, when i was in the early of 20s, I found the world is not so beautiful as what I knew, so I was radical and always wanted to do something to prove myself what was right, however, when times fly, I re-learned the world and calmed down to contemplate, then I found I was mature and rational and would follow others blindly, and could read the comments here who has great discrimination to CHINA in peace and wrote this words peacefully. That’s the difference, maybe you think I have been assimilated by the government? CHINA has been finding its democracy that is suitalbe its culture and its people, and I believe it will find the balance point one day by itself, not the democracy other nation impose on it! I feel so luck that I live in the world we could communicate with each other using the same language on the internet, and I could try my best to express my opinions differnt from yours to see CHINA. ========================== Now I would say something about Tibet from one point,—not about the history but the future. China is a multi-nations country, so there are too many complex factors to put its people together. Tibet is just the link of them, if it loses, everything would change. OK, as you question: “Why I wonder, when China is so large, is it necessary for her to insist without any dialogue or compromise to have as her very own possession Tibet and Tiawan?” (Taiwan is another history issue, I would not discuss it this time.), I would reply that if China agrees its independence, then what other nations? EVERY nation in China has its glorious history and culture, however none of them has been great for a long time in the history of CHINA. (you said you have studied CHINESE HISTORY FROM SHANG DYNASTY, then you would know many nations had their periods to rule China, and own their warriors in their times.) Tibet’s indepence would cause chain reaction, then should China allow other nations to be independent? Ok, China is a LARGE country, but if every nation breaks away from China, China would become the little coutry that named BEIJING! ============================ I also appreaciate that you exchange your questions and wonderments with me, I really would like to explain anything you want to know in my knowledge. By the way, I know there are a lot of gray in between BLACK AND WHITE, maybe sometimes I immature in some questions, I still hold my view that every country has its way to deal with its business.

It's been 19 years since the protests in Tiananmen Square. What do you think about China today?

Dear Willow K, As you have said China is an incredible mix of contradictions, in some ways beautiful, in others ugly with so many different sides to it. For such a large and with more than 1 billion popultion coutry, there are too many things to deal with. I am glad that you can tell your seeing in China to others, using your experience to tell the true CHINA TODAY! It no deny that we have too many problems to deal with, however, Chinese people enjoy their life and are keening to learn the outside world and they have done this. Many years ago, so many foreigners said the Chinese government hides the outside world, and the Chinese people have been treated by their government. And now, we have the approach to finding the “TRUTH” through Internet, and use English to learn more about the world, but why we see the “true world” that so many foreigners still hold the misunderstanding views of CHINA, and the foreign medias tell the distorted facts to the world? I’m really puzzled about that!!! Any county has its merits and demerits, no one could except. When someone amplify the shortages and define that China is the country without democracy, I am sorry about that maybe I have been the A.I. of CHINA? To describe the actual China is never an easy work, I will try my best.

It's been 19 years since the protests in Tiananmen Square. What do you think about China today?

Chinese people always take measures on their merits to sovle the problems with dilligence and intelligence. We could do what we could do the deal with issues. Arificial pollinating, is just one of the examples.

It's been 19 years since the protests in Tiananmen Square. What do you think about China today?

I appreciate that so many people would like to listen to me and want to know more about CHINA, I hope if I use the unsuitable words and sentences to express my ideas with the emotion, it won’t hurt anybody. What I want to do is to tell what is happening in China and what our life is now. Dear Mugsy Peabody, thanks very much that you could open your minds to accept different culture in other countries and respect their people. As you have said, we have few ways to change the behavior of our own government. Although sometimes I doubt the way of my government, I still believe that something would be changed and we will have a bright future. By the way, Chinese people, still take the credit of their government, including me. AND I really love the words you have changed from MS. Dear Frances Merritt, thanks for your attention of China, I hope I could give you a new scene about China today, not the OLD TIMES. You are right that the business has been developing so fast that we Chinese have to speed our pace to follow it, and military is also stronger than before which made other countries fear. Besides, our minds also accept the culture of western countries and enrich our knowledge about the world. Chinese have open their eyes to look at the world. Dear George Wu, I am happy to meet you in this SITE, and hold the same opinion with me about China. Tibet and Taiwan belong to China, like the California belongs America, nothing could seperate them. Our government Always hopes to solve the problems in peace, or we should have taken Taiwan back. About Tibet, in Chinese eyes, it is a province of China, and we are help developing their economy and pretecting their culture for decades years, one of the most important thing is road works from Beijing to Lhasa. Dear AB, i REALLY hope one day, we would have a chance to sit togeter at the dinning table, enjoy the CHINESE CUISINE, and talking something about the cultures respectively. As one member of the new generation, I learn the culture of your country because I want to learn more about the worlds, including the culture, thinkings and so on. We like your movies which own the advanced technology to make special feeling when we enjoy them ; your NBA games which prove that once you have a dream then make it; your fast food which save our time to put ourselves into the work. However, we’re still proud our movies which reflect the life and the thinkings in 21st centuries; our OLYMPIC games which show the NEW BEIJING, NEW CHINA to people all around world; our tradional food which are so delicious that I couldn’t help mouth-watering too! I hope when people enjoy the Chinese cuisine, they would be courious of its culture and would like to learn it!

Today is Earth Day! What's the most wasteful thing that you do?

I use a lot of plastic bags which bring about a lot of pollution, and as well as Chinese people do in the past years. However, we will restrict the using of plastic bags in JUNE,2008, and hope one day we would absolutely give it up. The waste and the pollution has arouse the wide attention in China, and the new generation has realized the importance of the environment, and the only thing we could do is spending long time to educate the public to prevent the waste while find the ways to solving the problems of pollution.

It's been 19 years since the protests in Tiananmen Square. What do you think about China today?

The dialogue is important, not just for diplomacy, but also in the commuication between their people. I wonder, why when our young generation is learning the culture of U.S, influnced by your music, films and NBA games and fast food, learining your language while you are still staying the past world of autarchy? Of course, we have a lot of differeces in POLITICS, RELIGIUS BELIEFS, especially in HUMANE RIGHTS! however, it is not the barrier to exchange our culture and enjoy the greatest sport event, OLYMPIC GAMES! I hope more and more US people could learn a little culture and history of CHINA, learn the true life in CHINA.

It's been 19 years since the protests in Tiananmen Square. What do you think about China today?

I hope I could contribute my little effort on something that could give something different to change something misunderstanding. “Thank you~” in CHINESE SPELLING is “Xie Xie”, maybe a little difficult for you pronouncing it. :) THANK YOU !

It's been 19 years since the protests in Tiananmen Square. What do you think about China today?

I pay more attention to “WOWWOW” since it was open. HOWEVER it is my first time to join in for this special comment. And I found there are too many misunderstandings in CHINA and CHINESE. That lets me believing that I and other CHINESE have the responsibility to spread our culture and thinkings. I am NEVER as PROUD as today that I found I can use English to express my ideas! Thanks Ms. Dee and The Ole Crone The Ole Crone very much, thank you for you could listen to a CHINESE carefully!

It's been 19 years since the protests in Tiananmen Square. What do you think about China today?

should we Chinese believe in the history in our book or yours? History is written by people, and what we could believe is that what has happened in the recent years. Or everything would be controverial! If you dont deem the history that TIBET shouldnt belong CHINA, i would tell you another history that CHINA once ruled the most of EURO-ASIA continent, north to SIBERIAN, south to INDIA, west to GREEK, east to KOREA in YUAN DYNASTY! WHAT’S HISTORY AFTERALL, can you tell me ?

It's been 19 years since the protests in Tiananmen Square. What do you think about China today?

your story is also far away from me, a Chinese living in China! I sorry to say that the story of the 8 years old boy is a tragedy for a period in CHINA, however, NOT NOW! The era of Mao buttons has gone, and CHINESE people are wise and knowlegable enough to treat the history and truth. It’s undenied that there’re still many truth that need us to search, however, we know, only the union of a nation could make it strong. Please look at CHINA using the new way, not the “relic” of public issue!

It's been 19 years since the protests in Tiananmen Square. What do you think about China today?

i really wonder when and where have you been in China for several years? Ok, you got something is true that the pollution and the overpopulated and the counterfeits, however, can’t you see any change? what a pity!!! If you were just seeing the joyless people, i am sorry to say that you had a awful experience and absent the feeling of joy. Chinese people have undergone too many things and they live their way on they own merits. Facing the competition in the world, we need live in the world as you do! We just do what we can to earn money legally. i am so sorry that you have the experience in China just to see the shorages ….

It's been 19 years since the protests in Tiananmen Square. What do you think about China today?

When I see these words and comments, I really feel that the communication and the understanding between different nations and countries are so initial and significant that we should open our eyes to see the world instead of hearing and learning from some medias. I don’t know how did you get the information about the Tibet, however,EVERYTHING SEEMS DIFFERENT with what I have learned in CHINA! OK, admittedly,I am a Chinese living in Dalian, northeast in CHINA, which is also a beautiful seaside city attracting tourists both domestic ones and overseas every year. I learned news from internet what you would say have been censored by government, and the fact is that I saw the origin pictures which some part of these pictures were “picked” and “cut” by the some western medias. When you say the truth and the violence of these pictures which have been “motified”, then how about the remind parts of these pictures? It’s true that the protest in 1989 has been hided by the government, and most of Chinese people feel sorry about it. However, please never use the same sight to see CHINA after 20 years. It is hypocritical to criticize another government’s treatment of its citizens. “The human rights in CHINA” is the target that western coutries and medias to attack the Chinese government. Maybe most of you believe Chinese live in a poor country and enjoy limited freedom and even have no right to claim their will. I am sorry to say that, I live in a different world in your imagine. For these 25 years since my born, I experience the tremendous change in China, and the change has astonished the whole world, making other countries fear and believing China would be the potential threaten, maybe one day, would rule the whole world! It’s so ridiculous if USA has not made it for the last 50 years! Even someone deems that China would be another German in the World War 2! Have you learned the HISTORY in CHINA? Chinese people have undergone the toughest period in the 19th and 20th century and they knew the feelings conlonized and slaughtered by other countries and they swore never let this happen again and the only thing to prevent the history reacting is to make ourselves strong! EVERYONE WOULD LIKE TO SEE ITS OWN COUNTRY STRONG AND BEAUTIFUL! Especially, when you see the problems such as pollution and overpopulation in CHINA, we have tried our best to improved it although it is hard for a developing country to do that in a short time! So I want to ask a question when Times River was polluted in the Britain, how many year did people try to make it clean again? China has given the ONE-CHINA police to control her population since 1980s, which is also your critism on human right, and has acquired well effect and will benefit the whole human being! I don’t know why there are numerous foreigners travelling China are surprised the development of China and wishing the next tour, while a few saw ONLY the scenes full of poverty, ignorance and autarchy? DOES ANY COUNTRY COULD MAKE ITS PEOPLE LIVING IN A SAME LEVEL LIFE STANDARD? I am appreciated that Mugsy Peabody holds her opinions that “It’s always interested me that India seemed so much less formidable because of the widespread use of English in the subcontinent. Honestly, how many of us will ever learn Mandarin? And if we can’t even speak, how can we ever understand? ” I know I COULD NOT CHANGE ANYTHING in your viewpoints, perhaps you could believe that I am the puppet of the government! I just hope that you can learn more about China.
