Will you take – or are you already taking – advantage of the benefits of being a senior?

Darn right take the discount.Raised 3 kids, been employed since I was 13, now 63, and I have earned it. What great fun to be rewarded for the natural process of growing more mature, not older.

I am so glad to see that more agree on this than not. Why be ashamed of your longevity? Growing older is much better than the other option that I am sure of. We should be proud of what we know and have accomplished by reaching the reward years. I sure am andif you are not, step back and look again at the big picture.

Show me the discount!

Do you think Jackie Kennedy and Bobby Kennedy had an affair?

Jk I agree, after all these years who the hell cares? How does it change anything at this point in time?

And so what if they did, is it not their lives? Why is it our business? Why not worry about the things of importance in our own lives.

How do you beat the winter blues?

I look how fortunate I am to be emplyedd, have a home, food and good family and frinds, health, and find no blue in my spectrum. We have had winter, not very bad, here in Montana, I gues it is part of being here.

There are so many folks doing way worse thatn I am I just find it hard to be very down about my plight. I guess things can always be better, but for sure they can be one hell of a lot worse.

My blue, "Forever in Blue Jeans."

Liz Smith: A-Rod and Michael Phelps – Like You Never Made a Mistake? Madonna, Still Hot at 50: We Get It, Honey. Move On!

You speak the truth and more important good sense. Phelps was just being a kid, did wrong, but I think it will be ok. I have to believe the last perfect life ended on a cross many years ago. A-Rod, who the hell cares, he is an adult and a pro. How come the other 103 names are not public? Maybe not Yankees? Let’s hope Congress stays out of this for a change, they got enough important stuff to deal with. Plus how moral is that group to judge anybdoy. Odd that Madoff hurt so many more people than these two guys could ever hurt, and he is getting less heat. Shameful.

Caught on film! Should Michael Phelps be punished for smoking pot?

I have 2 sons that were competitive swimmers, I was active in the production of meets and management of 2 successful clubs, 14 years worth. If you do no know the life of these kidss you do not know what they give up and what they accomplish. Phelps has had no real life since he started his training as a child. Swimmers live in the water, at his level it is a marvel he does not have gills. They have no social life, and focus on their sport 27/7/365. He admitted to making a mistake, he wanted to be a normal person like his peers, he is intitled, he has earned the right. What he did is not right, but the world ot sports is so full of BAD drugs, guns, wife beaters, blood dopers, how about we give this kid a chance. When the NFL and MLB really do something about their problem with drugs, we will have better role models for young athletes to model lives after. There are so many worse things Phelps could have done, lets encourage him, not condem him. I think he knows right from wrong. Ps

Candice Bergen's MLK Day Plans

I find it refreshing to find such honesty any where on the web any more. To many people write what is pc and what they think people want to read. How many of us/them do something special on Presidents Day? Columbus Day? Other than drink green beer St. Pattys day? For the most any more, feds. for sure, it is another day off with pay. Sad but true. Ps

Who should take Hillary's NY Senate seat?

Maybe try Burris from Il. Maybe he will have a better chance with the folks in NY.

Frances Stier's Daily Deed Idea: Pajamas for Homeless Kids

My wife and I were Cub Scout leaders for 12 years. Every year at Christmas we made a Christmas tree as a pack project. The kids all did decorations for it, and brought one small gift for a child. We got a family name from Family Services and after the Christmas Pack meeting, we took the kids, all of them, and delivered the tree to the family chosen. This was the most enlightening event in these kids young lives. They saw first hand how lucky and blessed they were and how sad some peoples lives really were in comparrison. They really have to see it first hand, telling them is not going to make it real. Most years there was not a dry eye in the group, and the family we gave to was so elated they were thankful, greatful and speechless. My 3 boys still remember these trips, and I think it helps them to ground them and maybe their own children.

Times are changing! Internet-only journalism will now be considered for the Pulitzer Prize. What does this mean for journalism?

Diana, You are spot on. Those of us who work 8-10 hours a day in front of a computer have little desire to go home and do “read the book” on one. I am also a photographer and spend even more time processing images, so a good week for me can be 60+ hours of computer time. I look forward to the “paper in the morning and an evening of just me and a good book. My 2 oldest grand sons are very computer savy, but they both like books for Christmas gifts. Maybe there is still hope. Phil

How would you react to Favreau's photo (see below) if you were Sen. Hillary Clinton?

Don’t think maybe she has had some time in service with this sorta’ thing being married to Bill? Life is to short to make issues out of this kind of stuff, get over it and move on with things of real importance. I have to believe we have all had a day with a big old bad choice, even the females in the crowd.

Help Detroit! by Kate McLeod

Yup, I can, and I do. How abaout that union folks. Lots of working folks make $14 or less per hour, and we make it work. I dealt with a union shop in a family owned business for 30 years. They were the highest paid people in the business, including owners. They had little understanding of how the whole profit/expense thing works. I am guessing it is better now, I hope. So the new kid gets $14 per hour, what about all the benefits? And, how about the folks that have been on the line for a few years? Guessing they are making more that $14/hour. Also for sure the folks up the food change in the big tall building need to get real about what they are worth. Nobody is worht that kind of money. There are a bunch of folks that are making a living wage, not a whole lot more that that $14/hour, and are tired of hearing about the poor car people, the poor airline people, the poor banking people, and all the others that want more of MY paycheck. The time has come for everybody to adjust, lets help the car guys, but the car guys also need to help themselves. We have all made to many excuses for all our failings, lets take ownership and fix it. Maybe it is time to under stand the real meaning of “United.” Ps

What fantasy concert reunion would you most like to see?

Mary Wells: The Future Is Here, Just in Time for the Holidays

Something from the past. My mother told of the Christmas Celebrations she and her 4 sisters had when they were kids. Mom was born in 1912. This celebration would be a real pleasure. The kids went to bed Christmas Eve, not having seen the tree or decorations. Their parents did all that after the kids were down, staying up all night if needed. Put up and decorate the tree, wrap and put out gifts, (most home made)decorate the house, a much simpler time than now. When the childred got up on Christmas day and came down stairs it was a true surprise and special time for the whole family. This would really make Christmas a special event, not the long drug out revival of retail America it has now turned into today. Phil

Will Biden Wear a Tie? Will Palin Wear a Dress? Their Style Experts Prepare for Tonight's Debate

Jane, Your idea is the best. I might watch that, maybe. They will be hgihly scripted as to what they say, so it all is fairly over with now. And what Sam says is also right on the money. Maybe we need to decide what is important. Ps
