Obama Announces Budget, Republicans Unimpressed

Obviously, you don’t like him and I do and we don’t share the same view point.  I would never try to change your opinion and there’s little that I’ve been presented with that changes mine, so I guess we’re at a stalemate.

Obama Announces Budget, Republicans Unimpressed

Really, you know all of that for a fact?  I’m impressed.

Obama Announces Budget, Republicans Unimpressed

Steve,

I don’t think that’s exactly the case and I don’t think our President rubber-stamps everything put in front of him, but he sure makes an effort to get a consensus from both Democrats and Republicans, which isn’t working.

There are many from both political parties who need to be booted out and I’m hoping voters will remember that when it comes time for reelections.

Obama has accomplished more in his short time in office and has so many more problems facing him, I applaud his courage for trying to bring us the best solutions he can.  I wouldn’t want the job.

There needs to be a line-item veto, where he can throw out the crap without killing the whole bill.  There needs to be a complete stop to lobbyists putting their wish lists in along with the cash in the politicians pockets for favors, but we don’t have that yet.

Do you think the press should be allowed to publish photos of slain soldiers' coffins as they're brought back to the U.S.?

I understand your feelings about this and am so glad you haven’t had to suffer the loss of your son.

I know the first time I saw caskets being unloaded, I was shocked into silence.  I had no idea so many were dying, because it just wasn’t being reported.  I believe there was even a time, when the names weren’t being allowed to be shown on TV

Never was I able to identify a single person to any coffin being unloaded.  I have relatives who have lost loved ones in the war, but that would be that person only and not connected to the large numbers I saw arriving, so it was an eye opener that brought the heart break of so many families losses to my attention when the media was finally allowed to show and report names of those who had died.  Not once did I feel they were being exploited by politicians or anyone else to allow us to know just how many were dying.

I have been through the worry and fear of losing a husband while he was in Viet Nam and then a son in the Army.  My son is gone and nothing or no one can ever replace him, so I do understand your point of view.  I see it as honoring these men and women’s lives, not an exploitation.  My son now rests in a beautiful Military Cemetery and I don’t know what he would have said, since we never discussed it.  I hope your son comes home soon and safely.

Pam,

it was during the Bush-Cheney administration that sanctions were placed on the media from filming the arrival of coffins of our dead, being shown as they were unloaded from planes.  One Seattle reporter lost her job after taking pictures of coffins being unloaded.  This was a way to keep the public from seeing the devastation of so many dead coming home from the Iraq and Afghanistan war.  Do you think there are many parents, spouses and family that wouldn’t want people know the terrible losses they suffered, losing a loved one in a war whether you agreed with it or not?

Saks: Big Discounts Won't Last

Have you noticed that Credit Cards have increased interest rates and lowered credit lines to even their best customers?  It doesn’t matter whether you paid your balance in full, on each monthly statement or paid 4X the minimum due before the deadline and store credit cards are as bad or worse.  JCPenney says their profits are seriously down and have no clue as to why people are paying off their balances and no longer using their cards.  I plan to discontinue use of all my credit cards except in emergencies and even though I am just one consumer, I can guarantee those of like mind will definitely have an effect on the profits of store credit cards and all credit cards, for that matter.  Those who are struggling to pay their month to month debts and credit card balances, the companies are raising their interest rates astronomically-now, tell me, if they were having trouble paying the old rates and balances, what does raising their rates do?  Credit card companies are shooting themselves in the foot and they’re too clueless to see it.  People will use cards less, buy less, spend less cash and who will suffer?  Certainly the consumer but even more so, the companies.

Liz Peek,

Just curious-what is your solution to our economic problems?

How do you beat the winter blues?

Your description sounds beautiful and being able to capture the sky’s color at that time must be satisfying.  We used to go down to the beach frequently to watch the sun set over the horizon of the ocean, no matter the season.  I miss that a lot.

Probably, but they shouldn’t be allowed to just walk away from this unscathed.

Denise,

That very well may be exactly what will happen.  The children may be taken away from her since it appears she wont be able to take care of them, but there will always be people who make extremely unwise decisions, as she did.  She endangered her own life and the childrens with choice of having all the eggs implanted at once.  There should also be laws preventing Fertility Clinics and Doctors from allowing such choices.  It’s obvious Nadya wasn’t thinking logically or maturely, but what was the Doctor’s excuse?  He should be held accountable, too.  Meanwhile, while we all seem to agree, Nadya wasn’t/isn’t albe to make sane decisions, it’s still about the innocent babies and what is to become of them.  I agree this should never be allowed to happen again.

Napolitano in the Dark About Immigration Raid Details, Says Official

Napolitano is not the only one who doesn’t know what’s going on in the Homeland Security Dept.  Homeland Security doesn’t know what’s going on in their own Dept. and that’s been the status quo for several years.

Obama Announces Budget, Republicans Unimpressed

Maybe Bush and Cheney should be called back to Washington and told to get their butts in gear and clean up the mess they left and not to stop until they do.
