Liz Smith: Texas Today – Gone With the Wing-Nuts
Hi Roger
I think a couple of those wing nuts have been "de-activated" and are no longer allowed to post here. And I totally agree with your statement about unchallenged misinformation. I believe that the lies being spun are far more destructive and dangerous to America than anything the terrorists have been able to do to us.
Appreciate your post.
Margo Howard: Move Over, Levi Strauss
Well, well…..interesting thread, thanks for the forum, Margo.
Of course the Palin Saga continues to draw interest. Sarah is the bullet some of us worked our tails off to help America dodge. As the information continues to unfold about the caliber and potential for harm the Sarah Bullet represents, we all heave a collective sigh of relief.
I visit here only occasionally, but it appears that Wow has some new voices weighing in. These new opinions are welcome and refreshing. As you newbies probably noticed, there are a couple of anonymous professional serial Obama-bashers who show up 40 or 50 times a day to repeat their stale mantra of petty meritless criticism….so nice to have some neutralizing commentary for balance!
Re young Mr. Johnston, I don’t think he is bright enough to have made any of this up. Sooner or later the media will milk him dry and we can be sure that the Palin family has wised up and cut off most of Levi’s access to their personal life. We shall see how far his pretty face gets him then.
wOw Reports: What News Matters to You – And Why?
Just watched the video, DeBurca……God have mercy. The underlying problem appears to be, in the video and in some of what is serial-posted here, delusions of intelligence and damn the consequences. It has far more to do with mental health and serious personality disorder than with politics.
"Look at ME! I watch Glenn Beck. I listen to Michael Savage! I KNOW I am REALLY REALLY smart because Rush tells me so! Why, I can go on the internet and find volumes of putrid words to support the ugly subversive things I say and/or post. I can regurgitate any disgusting hate-filled opinion I find, pretend it is my own, and remain anonymous as I do so."
Sure hope the dangerously ignorant remain a statistically insignificant (albeit loud and vulgar) minority. And for what it is worth, I feel certain that none of the decent intelligent patriotic Republicans that I know personally, would want to be even remotely associated with anyone interviewed on that video. Perhaps REAL Republicans will stand up to the lunatics, and take their formerly honorable Party back? I sincerely hope so….there surely is a lot at stake.
Thanks for your tenacity, DeB….you come here with facts and conviction. I appreciate your "voice," and the way you continue to battle the lies and spin.

Dear Lady Gator
God bless you and your husband. I was deeply moved by your account of the homecoming of the hero Captain Michael Scott Speicher. America at its finest indeed. Count mine among the tears of gratitude.
Thank you for sharing.

Geithner Promises Thrift to Chinese … Someday, by Liz Peek
Wow, deber B….at 3:27 p.m. today you opined:
"Our Founding Fathers left one legacy that’s not celebrated on Independence Day but that affects all of us. It’s the national debt. Our country first got into debt to help pay for the Revoluntionary War. The debt has grown ever since and now stands at a staggering $11.5 trillion….."
You and AP writer Tom Raum are certainly on the same page! Here is the opening quote from his article "Will US Legacy of Debt Spur Next Crisis?" posted earlier this month:
"The Founding Fathers left one legacy not celebrated on Independence Day but which affects us all. It’s the national debt. The country first got into debt to help pay for the Revolutionary War. Growing ever since, the debt stands today at a staggering $11.5 trillion……"

Proud? Of non-stop negativity and celebrating failure for America? Proud? Of snark and insult? Seems more like something to be ashamed of, but since we’re all anonymous here you get to characterize yourself any way that suits you.
It is beyond comprehension that you are willing to publish this convoluted mean-spirited little declaration of pride, and then declare gratitude to God. You never cease to amaze, "Libra." *wink*wink*
Does the decrease in Obama's approval rating worry you? How does he measure in your book? What are his greatest weaknesses now?
Thanks, Dee T, you spoke for me too. I will NEVER be able to understand the cheerleaders for failure, or the insulting holier-than-thou tone they take while pronouncing their ideas to be superior, and the rest of us to be stupid. I am especially offended by the constant postings alleging "buyer’s remorse."
Can we get this straight, please?
You cheerleaders for failure WISH you could foment some form of buyer’s remorse, but regardless of how many times you TELL US that we are dissatisfied, your WISHES DO NOT MAKE IT SO. As Dee, and many others have stated, we believe that Obama is doing the job we elected him to do. We support him. Some of us believe that it is reasonable to read at least the first few chapters before one publishes a vitriolic uninformed book review. If y’all can’t see the logic in that, pick up your pom-poms and continue on with your Fans For Failure glee club. I thought Shadow-President Cheney and his sock puppet Bush PROVED that they were dangerously incompetent, but I never once rejoiced in that fact, or worked to make things seem worse than they were.
I echo Dee’s request: Professional Obama bashers need not reply.

Stimulus Not Working? Let's Have More! by Liz Peek
Hi Zera Lee
Did you happen to watch Bill Moyer’s Journal last week? It was about health care and the "F-U-D" propaganda being used to misdirect the debate……quite illuminating. I am encouraged because the election of ‘08 indicated to me that we have entered a new chapter in the way information is shared. All the smear and slur and swift-boating tactics were shouted down because the voters had resources to ferret out the truth, we could see through the lies. I do not underestimate their determination to manipulate, but I do have hope that more of us are paying attention than ever before. Perhaps that has the potential to erode their ability.
We were all affected by that despotic era of "near-complete power," and I think the majority of us are pretty determined to keep it from happening again. At least that is the way it seems to be working in my circle of friends. Cautious optimism!
Stimulus Not Working? Let's Have More! by Liz Peek
Good evening Lady Gator
Yours is one of the "right-leaning" voices I always read and respect even when I disagree with something you have said. Many times your perspective has helped me broaden my own. (After you shared a personal detail several months ago, I also feel a connection because we both have been blessed by our marriage to a Veteran.)
I truly regret that my comment offended you in any way. It wasn’t meant as a taunt, but I do confess that I have been trying to speed-scroll some of what is published here, and when I read something that I find so far out there it is ludicrous, I make an effort to see it as humorous. (No sense popping a blood vessel because someone thought posting a totally false and/or hateful comment made their anonymous ego feel smug and smart. Don’t you just shake your head in bewilderment at some of the revolting "opinions" from BOTH sides of the political spectrum?) Therein lies what was actually the foundation of my comment. My lovely hens can’t help it when they go broody, and I am positive that they do not enjoy the way they are transformed to little hissing monsters when this phenomena occurs. Conversely when some of the REALLY SNARKY voices deposit their REALLY SNARKY words, we all know they have CHOSEN to conduct themselves that way, and that they enjoy it. If it ruffles our feathers, so much the better as they sit and type their ugly insults knowing it will bother someone. Believe me, I prefer the organic scent of the henhouse to the malignant malodorous delusional "manure" that some offer as "opinion."
I am also sorry that you have such a horrible (and I can tell, sincere) opinion of our President. I respect what he is trying to do, and my convictions are also sincere. I am sure we can agree that we both want our country to be strong and our foundations to feel secure again. I too have suffered losses, although I believe the deterioration began long before Obama was in charge. I sincerely hope things improve for all of us.
Peace

Hi there, B Clark, and thank you for posting your observations. I share my life with a little flock of hens and I ESPECIALLY appreciate the "broody" analogy. At least our feathered friends can blame hormones for their "fowl" perspectives!
