Did Sen. Obama clinch the Democratic nomination last night?

Hey Renata Hope you are feeling better and thanks for the reference.

Did Sen. Obama clinch the Democratic nomination last night?

You really are a WOW Woman Renata!! All this insight and wisdom from a sick bed? Sure hope you feel better soon.

Did Sen. Obama clinch the Democratic nomination last night?

Yet another reply, Renata I keep reading your posts and can’t resist responding. I appreciate all sources of information that shine the light of truth on the candidate Clinton, her abuse of the Democratic Party, and her determination to damage and deny us the leadership we so desperately need. I feel a sense of amazement when I watch good decent people buying into it. They ran a segment on our local news last evening that featured a small group of well-meaning hard working women donating their time to make calls for Hillary. I have read about folks who say they are sending her contributions that they carve out of their food budgets. I couldn’t resist a first-hand look at the machine so I attended a rally when Bill was here in Oregon. It was very disheartening to see the good citizens of my rural county used and manipulated like so many pawns in a political game of illusion. (The local paper reported the reason they didn’t roll out the bleachers so we could sit while we waited for HOURS in a stuffy high school gymnasium. “….it was by design.” declared the unnamed staffer in the “NewsRegister.” “The point was to pack one section tightly before making more seating available, to make the gym look, well, packed.”) Is that a perfect metaphor for the Clinton campaign? But worry not, Renata. Out here in Oregon we are working tirelessly to deliver that final punch and clear the path to the White House.

Amen again Renata And to paraphrase a pundit earlier this evening, if he chose her as VP he would be well advised to put a food taster on the payroll.

Did Sen. Obama clinch the Democratic nomination last night?

And to answer to the question: Senator Obama clinched the nomination awhile back and it just became more obvious last night.

Did Sen. Obama clinch the Democratic nomination last night?

Reply to Renata I lend my voice to your thoughtful comments, and sincerely believe that your circle of friends (” NOBODY I know would celebrate or add more insult to injury to this tragedy — thankfully.”) reflects the majority perspective. I also believe that the elections last night proved there are plenty of decent intelligent folks who have their priorities straight. In my little corner of the world, the prevailing reaction to this inappropriately public spectacle has been one of sadness and discomfort. When one looks at this as the private matter it should have remained, the former pastor Wright created conflict for his own personal reasons and, left with no choice, Senator Obama defended his honor………… with great grace and dignity. The drama of betrayal has played out in relationships since the dawn of time. This was a HUMAN race issue. Just so, the media can ( and no doubt will) continue feeding us garbage, and we can keep right on refusing to consume it!

Who Is the Biggest Liar?

Amen ariadne! Leonard Pitts Jr. nailed it in the title of his column about the un-reverend Wright earlier this week: “Drowning in a sea of his own hypocrisy”

You are a ...

an optimistic work in progress.

A 'How-To' Video Made for the Technically-Challenged

Hi Caroline I am unable to view the video (and have posted a request for a transcript version of the information) but meanwhile, I just wanted to let you know I am experiencing the same confusion as you are with your concern # 1. I think that some folks blog with regularity and therefore understand the process better than someone like me who is new to the concept. I did e-mail wowowow requesting assistance with this very issue, and hope they will come up with a way to tweak things a bit. If not, I predict that those of us who are newbies will ultimately learn to navigate the system as is. Re question # 2, I have found it helpful to “copy and paste” my commentary into an e-mail pane where I can use the spell-checker there before I post anything. I assume it would also work to compose our comments in the e-mail program, spell-check the message there, then “copy and paste” a finished product into the response box in the site. Others have referenced “pasting” information into their messages, although I haven’t actually tried it myself. The other thing that is useful about transferring a copy of a message to an e-mail pane is that it can be filed in a folder for future reference. Re question # 3, the ladies were discussing this site on the Charlie Rose show last month and I was left with the impression that they welcomed everyone to participate so long as we all follow the rules. There is a link to their “Terms of Service” at the bottom of the page. Warmest regards

Hello WOW-women I would really like to access the information in the instructional video but I have an old-fashioned dial-up system (info comes in at 26.40bps on a good day) and am unable to download large data files/video. Are you planning to post a transcript for the techno-deprived? If so, thanks in advance. If not, I am truly enjoying your site, computer limitations notwithstanding. :-)

wOw's Views on the News: Is Rev. Wright Leading to the Demise of the Obama Campaign?

From Oregon to Mary Lou in Maine Doing our homework and filtering it through seasoned intuition is the perfect formula for making the very best decisions. I dare to hope right along with you. And there are many of us determined to elevate the debate, to support Obama with our voices, our campaign efforts, and our dollars. We have all seen (and barely survived) what old-fashioned gutter politics delivers, we have to keep the faith. Appreciate your post and AMEN!

wOw's Views on the News: Is Rev. Wright Leading to the Demise of the Obama Campaign?

Appreciate your perspective, Maria. We are talking about serious consequences here. p.s. Don’t lose faith, there are many who continue to fight for the decent leadership we need and deserve, and there is plenty of strength in number!

Responding with appreciation to Phyllis: I am new to the e-community thought-sharing process. In my travels through this forum I have been frequently amazed by the way folks can perceive the same things so very differently. One will insist upon the validity of guilt by association, another will point out the wisdom of judging and defining a person by her/his own words and actions, (Thanks Lorraine and others) some are willing to spew forth rumor, innuendo, and vitriol to support their positions ……just interesting phenomena until it spills over into a critically important arena like selecting our leadership. At that point it has consequences, the potential to affect the quality of life for all of us. I am so hopeful when I see postings that actually inform and advance meaningful dialog, and when I read that a large number of us are concerned and frustrated by the way the media is manipulating the agenda. (One shining exception is wowowow and the great ladies who created it!) Recognizing and defining a problem is how change begins. Sitting up here on my little farm in Oregon, I try to be realistic, to find small ways to make a difference. Just so, early this morning I whispered, and later today I read that someone heard me and validated my perspective. I am hearing your voices too, and for the most part, feeling encouraged by them. What an upper! :-)

wOw's Views on the News: Is Rev. Wright Leading to the Demise of the Obama Campaign?

From what Senator Obama said today it seemed like he had always had a lot of respect for Pastor Wright and the years of good work he had selflessly given to the community. He may not have agreed with everything Pastor Wright preached, but would not necessarily have thought it appropriate to publicly or privately disagree with him. The message I took away from Obama’s remarks today did not seem at all hypocritical. Pastor Wright stood up in front of the world and said things about his friend Barack Obama that were not true, things about Obama’s motivations that are not in keeping with the way Obama has lived his life. It didn’t seem that Obama was trying to separate himself from the Pastor’s feelings so much as from his divisive opinions. Politics notwithstanding, I sure wouldn’t let it go unchallenged if one of my friends questioned my integrity in front of a television camera…..would you?
