Hi Georgia, I appreciate the credit to my precious little flock o’ democratic hens…..I do believe that they helped get the message out during the election.  (I planned to make a video and post it on youtube, but you know what they say about the paving materials of a certain famous road?)  I noticed that you left me a message on the "numbers" thread but it disappeared by the time I logged on and found the notification.  Ratz!  One needs to be quick these days. ;=}

I have no problem believing that Ms. Sykes might have been warned about language (she does have a reputation in that area) but can you direct me to the source of your statement that someone actually "read over and approved" (censored) her remarks, and who that someone might be?  (This is a serious and respectful question as I have not been able to verify that Sykes’ comments were pre-screened.)

Hey DeBurca…..I searched for that post so I could paste it in, but I believe the author got fed up and left the site some time ago.  I too remember the good old days, and long for a return to civil discourse.  It makes me feel sick to see the venom dished up by those who post over and over and over again to show us how well they can regurgitate the propaganda du jour.  And to tell the Democrats how stupid WE are.  And bash our truly transformational President for such profound Faux-News-inspired criticism as requesting spicy mustard with his hamburger.  It just HAS TO BE the anonymity that brings it out in some?  Pump up the artificial self-esteem by manufacturing and hurling acid, then feel smug and superior for the hateful self-declared "cleverness."  Lucky for some that they can’t see themselves as others see them….that would be a decidedly humiliating revelation.

OBJ, DeBurca….and that handful sure does seem have a LOT of time on their hands!  I have often wondered what might be accomplished with that much time and energy were it to be applied to something positive and/or constructive? 

I recall an early post here at Wow written by a woman who, along with her husband, had attained an influential position with the GOP Elite.  She shared stories about how the high mucky-mucks would gather at expensive retreats to sip their juleps and laugh at the "little people" who were buying and powering the party line.  They marveled at how the "little people" were convinced that low taxes for the elites was patriotic, and failed to notice that the "trickle-down" was yellow, and didn’t smell good, at how the "little people"  were spoon-fed the notion that "BIG government" was something subversive even as the mucky-mucks reaped huge benefits from a government plenty big enough to take care of mucky-muck needs. 

The one who published that comment said that her conscience finally got the best of her and she left the party.  If the GOP doesn’t find the motivation to actually serve the needs of American voters, it is destined to go the way of the dinosaur.  The Republicans I know and love are heartsick as they watch their "leaders" take the Party from "NO!" to "HELL NO!"  Criticize 24/7 and hope for failure.  What a platform…..the results of the poll are no mystery to me.

That really was a great segment, and I hope you also caught Charlie Rose’s show last night.  I truly enjoy and appreciate thoughtful opinions, even when they are cloaked in humor. 

Re the subject of this thread, THANK YOU BARACK OBAMA!!  Keep up the great work.  (Most of us do not presume we know more than you do about how to steer our country back on track.) 

I worked with faith and determination to secure the nomination and election of this transformational leader.  I am warmed by the support for our President that I read in the pages of this discussion.  Y’all have neutralized the bitter stench of sour grapes yet again……please keep posting and I will keep reading and appreciating! 

"John"   Let’s see if I understand what you have written here……you think my remarks somehow indicate that the horrific crimes you mention should not have consequences or should go unpunished?  Excuse me?  Was that the topic of THIS thread?  There must be some reason why you found it necessary to react with such inappropriate hostility punctuated with a rude offensive suggestion.  I respectfully suggest that you would be well-advised to worry about your own head.

Thank you, Mel.  And I too agree with the stance our President has taken on this issue.  What reprehensible cowards have allowed our service men and women to take the heat for those who justified and ordered torture. 

It doesn’t matter to me how anyone spins this debate, it all boils down to the fact that during a devastating crisis, officials of my government met in back rooms and conspired about how to get around our laws and our Constitution.  The Right can justify it until y’all are red in the face, the reality remains the same: destruction and perversion of American laws and values………. the end could NEVER, will never, justify the means. 

How many more times do you "right-thinking" folks need to re-post the need for Pelosi to be held accountable?  Can you read??  Us "left-thinking" folks are in agreement. This is America.  When we make mistakes we need to analyze what went wrong, and how, and make sure such dangerous un-American history is not allowed to be repeated.  I DO NOT CARE about Ds or Rs.  I care that the guilty are held accountable.  I care that we find a way to insure this will not happen again.  This malignancy needs to be exposed and treated.

And for heaven’s sake people, the terrorists knew we tortured and made good use of that information as a highly effective recruiting tool.  I think it will only damage the terrorist’s ability to inflame and recruit now that America is holding the wrong-doers accountable.
