The Halston Chain

Some of us do LOVE it, mon cher. So, open you closed mind and learn, or read something else, or, go back to you Barcalounger, the Simpsons, Hungry Man dinner, your Bud Lite, and your burp contest.

The Halston Chain

Loved the piece. Loved Halston. Love you. Let the frumps grump. This world needs more beauty, class and style. Thank you Mr. Halton, and thank you lovely ladies.

Today is Earth Day! What's the most wasteful thing that you do?

Please everyone, if you have not, bookmark this eco-database on one comprehensive site: http://www.treehugger.com/ explore the site and you’ll learn a lot. I do pretty well reducing my carbon footprint: organic everything, recycling ace, walk or take public transportation as much as possible, buy few things in as little as packing as possible. But I am not a saint, like Mary…I indulge in too long showers…but I’ll work to cut them shorter. And do you know just some of the things made from oil [listed below] I try to buy alternatives. Fifty Things Made From Oil Petrol for cars Diesel for cars, trucks and ships Aviation fuel for planes Credit cards Plastic bags Hair brushes Anti-freeze Motorcycle Helmets Carpets Telephones Brake fluid Boats Glue Toilet Seats Shampoo Household paint Detergent Bowls Fertiliser Explosives Car tires Artificial turf Football boots Lipstick Weed killer Parachutes Umbrellas Food wrappers Shower curtains Waterproof coats Artifical limbs Roads Bubble wrap Drinks bottles Toothbrushes Life jackets Fishing line Tennis rackets Roller blades Eye glasses Lunch boxes Flower pots Toys Car seats Insulation Nail polish Hair spray Medicines Insect repellant Golf balls Whew!

Forty years ago, students shut down Columbia University protesting the Vietnam War. Have you ever marched in a protest?

Cynthia—-I know the government mistreats the troops and have acted in many ways against this justice. Whatever we think about Bush Inc.’s actions, there is no doubting the bravery of the enlisted. Kindest regards, thank you for your service, and all good wishes on the early recovery of your health and your due benefits.

The actt of protest is to protect the inherent right to justice. “We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish JUSTICE, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.” JUSTICE is the first value of the Constitution….the foundation of this nation. “Our government teaches the whole people by its example. If the government becomes the lawbreaker, it breeds contempt for law; it invites every man to become a law unto himself; it invites anarchy.”-Supreme Court Justice Louis Brandeis “Neutrality is at times a graver sin than belligerence.”- Supreme Court Justice Brandeis. “The world is a dangerous place to live; not because of the people who are evil, but because of the people who don’t do anything about it.” -Dr. Albert Einstein “Great spirits have often encountered violent opposition from weak minds.” Dr. Albert Einstein, Noble Prize winner, Times Man of the 20th Century. “Our answer is the world’s hope; it is to rely on youth….This world demands the qualities of youth: not a time of life but a state of mind, a temper of the will, a quality of imagination, a predominance of courage over timidity— Each time a man stands up for an ideal, or acts to improve the lot of others, or strikes out against injustice, he sends forth a tiny ripple of hope, and crossing each other from a million different centers of energy and daring those ripples build a current which can sweep down the mightiest walls of oppression and resistance. Few men are willing to brave the disapproval of their fellows, the censure of their colleagues, the wrath of their society. Moral courage is a rarer commodity than bravery in battle or great intelligence. Yet it is the one essential, vital quality for those who seek to change the world. Aristotle tells us “At the Olympic games it is not the finest or the strongest men who are crowned, but those who enter the lists. . Each of us have our own work to do.…With a good conscience our only sure reward, with history the final judge of our deeds, let us go forth and lead the land we love, asking His blessing and His help, but knowing that here on earth God’s work must truly be our own.” -Robert F. Kennedy BLESSED are those who stand up and speak up for justice and against all types of hatred, denial, and oppression. THANK YOU Lily, Joan and Joan J. Buck, Whoopie and Marlo. YES, I am a proud lifelong protester. It is the duty of the citizen to march, right letters, boycott, speak out against any abuse or injustice against people, animals or the environment.

Frank Peterson. You are a real man. A hero. Truly Great. Ne plus ultra!! I Think Continually Of Those Who Were Truly Great Stephen Spender I think continually of those who were truly great. Who, from the womb, remembered the soul’s history Through corridors of light where the hours are suns Endless and singing. Whose lovely ambition Was that their lips, still touched with fire, Should tell of the Spirit clothed from head to foot in song. And who hoarded from the Spring branches The desires falling across their bodies like blossoms. What is precious is never to forget The essential delight of the blood drawn from ageless springs Breaking through rocks in worlds before our earth. Never to deny its pleasure in the morning simple light Nor its grave evening demand for love. Never to allow gradually the traffic to smother With noise and fog the flowering of the spirit. Near the snow, near the sun, in the highest fields See how these names are feted by the waving grass And by the streamers of white cloud And whispers of wind in the listening sky. The names of those who in their lives fought for life Who wore at their hearts the fire’s center. Born of the sun they traveled a short while towards the sun, And left the vivid air signed with their honor.
