My Comments (82 so far…)

Christie Brinkley Chose the Right Divorce Lawyer

Joni - this is the first time that I’ve seen an author of an article interact on the comments thread. Thank you for that - I think it shows respect for all of us.

When is the last time you sent a handwritten letter?

I used to love getting and sending letters in the mail, but these days I have fibromyalgia and my friends all seem to have arthritis or some other illness that makes sending written letters difficult. Instead, I buy blank cards and send short notes - with stickers on the envelopes.

Christie Brinkley Chose the Right Divorce Lawyer

Kelly - I was thinking the same thing. My brother once told me that I was something of a “bum magnet” and I realized he was right. I hope Christie is willing to do some soul searching like I did (with a good therapist) - it’s worth the work. These days I’m a lot better at spotting losers.

Boy George and Martha Stewart: Both Banned. But From Different Countries

Elizabeth - I agree with you - I probably get a fraction of the phone calls that a busy woman like Martha would get and I can’t remember them all. She was prosecuted for being an intelligent woman who made more money than they did and then gave some of it to the democrats. If the Brits don’t want her, she’s welcome at my house any time.

If you were a rock star, who would you be?

I’d be Allison Krauss - I know you said rock star and she’s blue grass, but her voice is divine. Her duet with Shanendoah on “Somewhere in the Vicinity of the Heart” is one of my all time favorite songs.

You'd rather be ...

ki b - are you still stuck in that horrible job? I’ve been thinking about you.

Manson Murderess Begs for Mercy

I don’t understand why Suzanne/French Heart/To the Beach/Fluffy is being allowed to dominate this thread and to make such hateful attacks on people who disagree with her. I’m not sure I want to be associated with a website that contains these kinds of postings.

If you were a rock star, who would you be?

The author of “Girls Like Us” seems to think she wrote it for Warren Beatty. Carly always refuses to say who she wrote it about (although she auctioned off the answer for charity, but the winner had to promise not to tell). I agree it’s a great song.

You'd rather be ...

I’d rather be gardening. Nothing pleases me more than working in the garden, listening to the birds and watching the squirrels run along the fence.

What do you like most about the gym? What do you like the least?

Cool broad - I loved your list and your website was cute - I mean cool.

Breaking: Women Coffee Drinkers Have 25 Percent Lower Risk of Heart Deaths

I’m with you, Emma. I never acquired a taste for coffee but I love tea. My new favorite is Vanilla Caramel tea and I always drink my tea black.

What do you like most about the gym? What do you like the least?

When I was younger I was a regular at the gym. I liked the trainers, the support that we all gave each other and the fact that I looked good in my Danskins. What I never liked was the way the gyms always smelled - I don’t care how nice the gym is, they always smell like somebody else’s feet. These days I get my exercise by walking in the swimming pool - it’s good for you and it smells clean.

Do you know how to change a tire?

When I was young I could change a tire, but these days I can’t even bend over without falling, so I think that the other drivers might find me too distracting. I’d call AAA.

Panty Hose, Former Symbol of Women’s Lib, Dead at 43

I got my first pair of pantyhose while in high school and I thought they were sent from Heaven. Before that I had to wear a girdle, even though I was 5’8” tall and barely a hundred pounds. Why put a skinny kid in a girdle?! And those hooks that held up the stockings left impressions on my thighs that lasted for hours. Give me pantyhose over all of that. Since retiring, I don’t wear skirts, much less pantyhose, but if they’ve died I’m sorry to hear it - no one wants to see my white legs either. Here’s to you, pantyhose, may you rest in peace!

Farrah Fawcett’s Odd and Possibly Ground-Breaking Cancer Movie

Cancer is creepy - making a documentary to help people understand what it’s like to have cancer seems brave to me. She was never my favorite of Charlie’s angels, but her courage and generosity during her illness have impressed me. I wish her all the best.
