Count me in the allergic group. I’ve had some scary incidents because restaurants don’t always list wine as an ingredient. Also, I dated a guy who tried to trick me into eating sauce with wine in it because he didn’t believe in food allergies. Needless to say, I kicked him to the curb!

DL - I loved the Rockford Files. I always wanted to be his friend the attorney. That show had one of the best theme songs.

I was lucky enough to have a mother who taught me the importance of using common sense - I don’t remember her ever using the term “lady” but she taught us that people with “good sense” wear clean underwear, say please and thank you, don’t swear, don’t tell lies, respect their elders, and look their best (without being “showy”). I always cared more about being smart than acting like a lady - I think that’s the way many country girls felt.

I haven’t a clue - I only watched the show one time. It would be easy to say that I don’t relate to the characters because I’m a 60 year old retiree living in the foothills of California, but there are lots of shows that have no relation to my life and I still enjoy watching them. I just didn’t like this one.

Frank, Thanks for reminding us of Playhouse 90 - I still remember Of Mice and Men - fantastic.

How could I forget St Elsewhere - I loved that show!

Northern Exposure, X Files, Hill Street Blues, China Beach, Bob Newhart (the one with Suzanne Pleshette), Murphy Brown (I had a crush on Eldon), Hallmark Hall of Fame (yeah, I’m that old!) and In the Heat of the Night (great acting, but I also miss Bubba’s bum - they always showed him walking away from the camera)

Would I feel safe with a woman as Commander in Chief. Absolutely - We’re living with a smirky fratboy as Chief now and I can’t see how a woman could be worse than that. Hillary has my vote and I’m glad she’s still hanging in there - Her resolve is one reason I like her. I voted for a Clinton for President twice in the past and each time I wished it could have been her instead of Bill.

ki b, your posting touched my heart - I think I could have written it a few years ago. Then I got very sick, had to retire early, sell the house I thought I would be living in when I retired - and you know what? It’s okay. It’s not what I thought retirement would be, but I’m happy. Please figure out a way to leave that job that you despise - downsize if you have to - just do it. I’m praying for you.

I don’t think this is the time to bring up his past mistakes. He has done much good for this country and he is now fighting for his life. I’m saying a prayer for him and his family.

My most embarrassing music is a tape called “Norwegian Wood” It’s kind of a new age instrumental recording of Beatles songs. My coworkers asked me to stop playing it because they thought it sounded like elevator music. I think it’s relaxing.

Maureen - I was in love with Rod McKuen for years - used to have all his albums (even the one before he blew out his voice), his books of poetry and a poster of him hanging on the wall. If I hadn’t move so often, I’d probably still have them. I do have a CD of Glenn Yarborough that I bought a couple years ago - I’m not at all embarassed to say that I often listen to it.

I’d be the smoke detector. That’s the closest I could think of to being a fly on the wall and every once in a while I could react to the broiler by scaring the crap out of everyone in the house. Oh, does that sound mean? I could also save a life, I guess. LOL

I didn’t get hot flashes,but I suffered from headaches for awhile. The MDs gave me Zoloft for the headaches. I think Wowowow should ask how many of us took hormone replacement therapy and how many didn’t (I didn’t). In the office where I was working about half took hormones, but at one point every woman over 50 was taking Zoloft, Prozac or something similar. That felt creepy to me.

Good grief Mai Veide - did you forget your prozac? I love the black, white and red graphics.
