Women Pick Up Senate Seat, Elizabeth Dole is Defeated; NC Elects its First Female Governor

Thank goodness we got Dole out of office. Now we have new blood for Washington. I’m looking for only great things for Kay. Along with everyone else, Hagan will roll up her sleeves and work for a greater America. Dole just hit way below the belt. I hope that Hagan get somewhere with the law suit she filed against Dole. It may make politicans think twice about slinging mud at each other and spreading lies.

Whoopi Goldberg: We Have Finally Become Part of the Fabric of the United States of America

I’m sorry to be so wordy today but I wanted to share an e-mail I received from Obama… Joan — I’m about to head to Grant Park to talk to everyone gathered there, but I wanted to write to you first. We just made history. And I don’t want you to forget how we did it. You made history every single day during this campaign — every day you knocked on doors, made a donation, or talked to your family, friends, and neighbors about why you believe it’s time for change. I want to thank all of you who gave your time, talent, and passion to this campaign. We have a lot of work to do to get our country back on track, and I’ll be in touch soon about what comes next. But I want to be very clear about one thing… All of this happened because of you. Thank you, Barack

Whoopi Goldberg: We Have Finally Become Part of the Fabric of the United States of America

When I was growing up there was racial undertones in my house. Then I watched Guess Who’s Coming To Dinner. It was then I thought that people are people. If you are black, white, dark or light, we are all the same. I thought of the hate that was surrounding my house and America. I was determined to break that circle of hate. Now I have mixed grandchildren. I think about that and I must not have passed any message to my kids other than everyone is the same. There are good people and bad people and it’s not determined by the color of their skin. I worked hard for Obama. I knocked on doors, talked on phones and shook hands at the polls. I didn’t think of Barack as a african american I just thought of him as a great man. As a matter of fact with the news repeating about Obama being our first black president, I LOOKED at Obama during the victory speech and whispered to the girl next to me, wow Barack is good looking. I guess I was LISTENING to what was being said and not looking at at the person. God bless America. God bless Obama. God bless you Whoopi and enjoy this time in history. I’m just glad we all were part of this history making event.

Dr. Martin Luther King's 'I Have a Dream' Speech (Video)

Wanted to say to that in this speech by King if you changed the words I have a dream to yes we can it has Obama written all over it!

Dr. Martin Luther King's 'I Have a Dream' Speech (Video)

I had a dream and it came true last night. How wonderful is America? Finally we have crossed the barrier of color. Like I stated before, I wonder if more people would have voted Obama if they just listened with their eyes closed. McCain had a angry, gloomy way about him, while Obama sent a message of hope. Now we will prove that the color of skin does not make the person, it’s what’s inside that counts. Hopefully we learned that we can not judge a book by it’s cover.

Obama's Grandmother in Kenya: 'I Will Die of Happiness' (Video)

I just wish “toot” was able to dance in the streets to. Congratulations to Obama and his family. We worked hard to get Obama elected but the hard work is yet to come. So party hard because come January we will have to roll up our sleeves and dive into the problems Bush has left behind. In the meantime, let the healing begin. Like Obama says there is no blue states, there is no red states, we are the United States of America!!

John McCain's Concession Speech (Video)

I know when I was listening to McCain and he said, “My friends” again I just wanted him to shut up. John kept talking and talking and talking. I wanted to hear from Obama. I understand that the loser has to make that speech but I guess I was just sick of the entire process. I wanted it to be over. Thank goodness the “hockey mom” didn’t give a speech to.

Election Night Reader Forum

Thank goodness we got Sen. Dole out of Washington. My best to Kay, do us proud!

What are you doing this morning?

I just left the convention hall where all the volunteers celebrated our victory. There was not a dry eye in the house. We laughed, cried and screamed after Obama’s win was announced. During Obama’s speech we weeped again. Our emotions were out of control. I’m running on a high I haven’t felt in a long time.

What will you miss the most about the presidential campaign? The least?

I’m glad it’s over. It will be great to watch TV and not see the ads for all the canidates. I will not miss the mudslinging. It’s horrible to say, but what I will miss is seeing Palin make a fool of herself. She was always good for a laugh or two or three……or four……..etc.

California Votes on Controversial Gay Marriage Ban, Proposition 8

I hope that it passes. I may not understand a gay relationships but if two people love each other and want to make a commitment to one another, let them.

Barack Hussein Obama Wins Historic Election; Will Become 44th President of The United States of America

Now, let us all join in and work together and make America the country that it once was. Obama is such a great man I know he will do us proud. It’s been worth all the phone calls I made, all the doors I knocked on and all the hands I shook at the polls. My feet and back are killing me but every ache and pain is worth having Obama elected as our next president. Obama, I pray that “toot” is smiling down on you. You have done her proud along with all your supporters. Congratulations you deserve this. Party hard now because once in office you have one heck of a mess to clean up!

Women Weigh in on What They Will Be Doing on Election Night

I’ll be at the convention center in town with all the Obama volunteers. I hope to stay there until a winner is announced!

Obama Wins! In Tiny NH Town, That Is

I was so happy to see that this little town finally turned democratic! Hope it’s a sign of what is to come. Go Obama!

Where do you plan to watch the returns of the Presidential Election?

OK just got home from knocking on doors for Obama voters. All the volunteers are meeting in the city convention hall to watch the returns. It will be nice to be around people who are pulling for the same person I am. So in Jacksonville, NC we are going to party at the convention hall.
