Joan Cooney: It's Something I'd Expect From Karl Rove but Not Hillary Supporters

Just what century is it that you expect the “right” woman to be elected president, Suzanne? Obama will choose a woman as his running mate if he has a lick of sense. If not Hillary, who?

Mario Cuomo to Liz Smith: Dems Must Get Out of the Way! An Obama-Clinton Ticket Is a Thrilling Possibility

Perhaps a few disclosures would be in order from you Renata. In what way will you benefit from your hero’s election. By the way, it would be in his best interests if the pundits stopped taking about how much Michelle Obama detests Senator Clinton. If he fails to offer the VP position to her, people just might get the impression we can look forward to another Nancy Reagan in the White House.

Joan Cooney: It's Something I'd Expect From Karl Rove but Not Hillary Supporters

You’re better at playing the race card than most Obama supporters, Renata, so I think it’s a case of calling the kettle “black”. It may have been politically incorrect for Bill Clinton to point out South Carolina Democrats’ preference for Jesse Jackson, but it was not racist. It’s fine for Obama’s supporters to explain her appeal in West Virginia based on race, but Hillary is supposed to excise the word white from her vocabulary. Find some new talking points. You’re doing Senator Obama no favors here.

Cokie Roberts: 'Hillary Is Negotiating Her Withdrawal'

I think this bears repeating: Why on earth wouldn’t Hillary’s supporters (I’m one of the strongest there is) put on Obama the same kind of pressure to choose her as VP that would have been put on her to choose him had she come out on top? This is the dream ticket! With Bill Clinton’s campaigning they might even take a few red states. The Senate is going to be ruled by Dems by a wide margin, and Hillary’s seat is safe for the NY Dems, so shouldn’t the strongest possible ticket be formed to insure McCain’s defeat in November? I am eager to hear the wow0wow community weigh in about whether Hillary Clinton should accept the VP position if offered by Mr. Obama. I was surprised to hear Bill Moyers advise against it on Charlie Rose yesterday evening. He feels her potential to be a great leader in the Senate outweighs other considerations. For the life of me I can’t imagine that there’s another running mate out there who would be as likely to assure victory for the Democrat ticket. In addition, I believe that the office of VP was transformed by Al Gore, and certainly by dear Mr. Cheney. As VP Hillary Clinton could be the kind of ambassador to the world that people assumed Bill would be as “First Husband.” In addition, both she and Bill could help generate support for ending the war, achieving truly universal (hopefully single payer) health care, and giving the utmost priority to global climate change. She would of course be “one heart beat away” in the event of catastrophe or incapacity of the the President. On that basis alone I desperately want her to make history as America’s first woman Vice-President.

Ma’am, Hillary Clinton was asked what she would do as President if Iran attacked Israel with nuclear weapons. What response would you have given? Perhaps you’d have preferred a more ‘ladylike’ response. Frankly, I think that’s just the type of response Mr. Ahmad-mini-jihad needs to hear. Especially from a woman. PS - thanks for the spam, but no thanks.

What is the most life-changing book you've ever read?

I can’t choose one, but Joyce Carol Oates is my favorite modern author. Also, I hope I’ll be forgiven for making a suggestion in this way, but I would like to give input about the next Question of the Day. I am eager to hear the wow0wow community weigh in about whether Hillary Clinton should accept the VP position if offered by Mr. Obama. If he gets the nomination I hope he will come under the same pressure to team up with her that she would experience should she come out on top. Marlo Thomas: The Media Steals Our Chances of a Fair Election

I agree, Mugsy. And I do think wowOwow should make sure to have the kinds of content that GT and her crowd will enjoy and benefit from. Perhaps Deepak Chopra and Martha Stewart could be invited to post topics?

Marlo Thomas: The Media Steals Our Chances of a Fair Election

Liz, I don’t know where you are getting your information about President Clinton (or why you care so much, for that matter — is it because politics up there is so boring?) Mr Clinton has been a model of probity, if you think about the ways he might have abused his position if he had been inclined to. Pointing out that Obama’s reputation as an anti-Iraq war activist is a fairy tale, or that it was no surprise Obama did well in South Carolina, a state with a large African American population, was hardly playing the race card or being nasty. In fact, as we talk about it here, “playing the race card” is something that blacks do, not whites. A classic example was when our Sup. Ct. Justice Clarence Thomas belittled the Senate’s investigation into his qualifications calling its hearings a “high tech lynching.” If a black employer person slandered me because of my race, that would be an example of bigotry, not playing the race card.

I’m so glad you said it, Susan: Why does everything have to be so complicated? A book was recommended to me that I went to the library to find and I’m just starting to read it. It’s called “Our Undemocratic Constitution” by Sanford Levinson. I think it will be very helpful in my effort to educate myself about all the challenging topics I am encountering on wowOwow.

A Late P.S. On Tina Fey, Woman of the Moment!

Dear Mugsy, I am too shy and new to the neighborhood to comment often, but this sweet little jest lets me till you how much I enjoy your naughtiness, courage, and your amazing way with words. I hope you will never leave us without the joy your contributions bring.

wOw's Comments of the Week 4/26 - 5/2

I’m new to the sight, and feel it is a new lease on my life. It is a reason to abandon my bed in the morning, and to retire contentedly in the evening, after a day of stimulating conversation and joyful (if virtual) human connection. I thank you all.

What do you do more often than you'd like to admit?

Oh, tom, how do I email you? I have a question about the sight. And a suggestion. I’m new. I hope you won’t mind? wh
