Marjorie — Happy Obama Year! Sorry, I don’t believe it when you say that you are happy that the “Boogeyman” MSM is hushing up revelations about some “political machination” by the Prez-elect. If you think it’s better not to know, then why did you so disingenously “remind” all of us at WOW about these “revelations” and “machinations?” And that leads to more questions: if the media refuses to report (i.e., “reveal’) the “revelations,” then how are they “revelations?” And if the media won’t report them, how do you know about these “non-revealed” machinations? Are you clairvoyant? Have you bugged the offices of the Prez-elect? His Kenwood home? Or are you still going to your dubious internet sites?

You only hurt your credibility and impartiality by accusing those who come to the Obamas’ defense, or critcize the Palins, as “hating” the Palins, or Loving the Obamas. First off, I hope people do “love” the Obamas! You ought to try it yourself! And as for “hating” the Palins—that just sounds like a 10-year old in a school yard! Just because you disagree with someone or criticize them, doesn’t mean you “hate” them. I can’t believe we are having such a conversation!

Happy New Year to everyone; it is good to be back at this site after a hectic couple of months. I do not live in New York, and this may not seem like my fight, but here in Illinois, the pols have perfected the art of handing down political offices to family members with little or no government experience, or rigging the slating process so that only relatives of other politicians ever get on the ballot. And look at the mess we have here! It is precisely because I expected Caroline Kennedy to be different that I am so disappointed to see her acting like a grade-B Illinois politician and making a power grab for an appointment to the U.S. Senate as her initial foray into politics! Talk about elitism! She doesn’t want to dirty her hands, or go to the trouble (take your pick) of running in an election. And she doesn’t want to start off by running for something less grand than a national office representing State of New York! She’s a KENNEDY for Pete’s sake!!!! Now I’m sure she’s very principled, very civic-minded and would not steal from the public trough (not that there’s anything left). But on principle, I never vote for candidates who represent a political “dynasty.” Political dynasties have almost taken over American politics, and not for the better because too many voters just vote for the name that sounds familiar. That is why we have George W., and our own Governor Blago, who never would have gotten his start in politics if he had not married the daughter of a powerful Chicago alderman. In short, C. Kennedy represents a problem that goes beyond New York, and that must be addressed by voters rejecting self-appointed political dynasties as un-American, undemocratic. I’m not holding my breath.

Hi Diana — And Happy New Year! What you said about the opening of the Senate really got my attention. The Dems worked so hard to get a Senate majority, and now they have 3 controversial Senators — Burris, Franken, and (possibly) Kennedy! Obviously the Kennedy controversy is not in the same category as the Burris and Franken controversies, but it does show that even victory brings its trials and tribulations.

Hi Marjorie — I stand by my opinion that laughing (i.e.,LOL) at the prospect of Baby Boomers or anyone being forced into nursing homes because their hard-earned savings have evaporated is just sick! Hey Lady G — Marjorie’s comments were a direct response to the “old folks home” comment of another blogger! She found it funny — because it was directed to the Baby Boomers, which I find offensive. BTW, I don’t have to be told the facts of life. I am covering my bases with a 401(k), SS, and a government pension — plus savings. But I will not tolerate those who demonstrate glee over the prospect of Baby Boomers who will be left “out in the cold” — literally. As a nation, as a people, we ought to be better than that.
