Candice Bergen: What Murphy Brown Would Have Said About Sarah Palin

Hi Emcye—Can’t comment on the E. Ionesco analogy because the first Ionesco play I saw was the LAST— pure torture— but I think you’re right on about the drama. Sort of fun but glad it’s over! RAMBLING ALERT. Don’t get me started on Candace. The Duchess of Delete (as she is referred to on this site) will probably get me for this because after all, CB is one of the owners of the site and therefore a “benefactor” of all of us fans of WOW (and the Duchess), but Boston Legal is SO lame!!! I am a lawyer, and it is one of the most clueless/sexist shows on the air! For the first 6 years or so, every young female associate at that firm walked around with more cleavage showing than a casino cocktail waitress! And sorry — I don’t buy that business about how “sexy” Shirley Schmidt is. She is not Susan Sarandon, OKAY???? And she needs to do something about her HAIR! ANd Schmidt — ever hear of a SKIRT??? I would love to see a sexy Shirley S , but it’s totally over-sold. Let Shirley BE sexy — instead of constantly telling us that she IS sexy. THERE IS A BIG DIFFERENCE, AND IF YOU REALLY BELIEVED THE FORMER, IT WOULD NOT BE NECESSARY TO CONSTANTLY REPEAT THE LATTER!

Hi Frannie —You must be a very good friend for other women to confide in you even though you personnally do not believe in abortion. I doubt that most women who have had an abortion would confide that fact to someone who did not believe in abortion, unless they knew that the other person would respect their decision. I understand you are sick of the debate, but I hope that people with your compassion stay engaged to balance out the extremists. I also hope that Obama’s election will make the debate more civil, as I expect he will appoint pro-choice judges to the Supreme Court. At the end of the day, the right to choose does not force anyone to choose abortion — hopefully, someday there will be no unwanted pregnancies!

Hi Jane! OBAMA’s CAMPAIGN SLOGAN WAS ONE BIG DANGLING PARTICIPLE! There—it’s been mentioned. And he is still the President-elect!

Hi DeBurca! It’s not “bashing” it it’s true! She is an idiot! And she’ll go down in history as a candidate for V.P.! I still can’t get over it! Waiting for Jan. 20th!

I want to clarify that my “reply” at 10:21 pm on 11/20 was to Carmel’s very 1st comment about Palin — that’s all. I don’t agree with every comment she made about Republicans. Yes, the GOP has major problems and I don’t grieve for that because they brought it on themselves. I do not support comments putting down people who live in trailerparks, and similar comments. I just don’t generalize that way (not on good days!) — either about trailer park residents, or Republicans!

Hi Carmel …. You Go, Girl! I’m with you — just because SOME OF US managed to prevent Palin from becoming “a heart beat away” from the Oval Office, does not mean we can let our guard down and let her become a sort of martyr in the public’s eyes. It makes me sick to see her giving all sorts of interviews (NOW) to the press (post-election) complaining that she was mistreated by the MSM! What she fails to see is that you can’t engage in “Straight Talk” if you’re in denial!

Barack Hussein Obama Wins Historic Election; Will Become 44th President of The United States of America

Maizie — If you live in Mississippi, why do you have penguins for your avatar? Just curious.

Countrywoman — if I am among those, I am honored; I am compelled to respond to the slurs, etc., though my retorts are not as informative as DeBurca’s comments or other’s. However, I agree that after the results of 2000 and 2004, the results of 2008 are well deserved!!!!! And I have volunteered at Obama for America since April 2007 and have countered the slurs here (as best as I could). Tonight we remember that there is no Blue America, no Red America, but only a United States of America!!!! God Bless America!!!

Dammit! If WOW has to PROMINENTLY display his middle name, can’t it at least spell it consistently — and correctly????????

Hi Hillary! We realize this is a difficult day for you. “It can…” — what does this mean? It can (may) — it may not. It is meaningless. Astrologers? Are you telling us something? Oh, Obama is addressing us! God Bless the United States of America!

Hi Wine Warrior — Hey Hey!!!! Obama has won, which we knew but we Obama supporters could not say because we are all too sensitive!!!!! THANK the LORD!!! and thank the Secret Service for keeping him Alive!!! Literally, I do!!!!! I have been a volunteer at the Obama campaign (Obama for America) since April 2007, but had to watch the returns at home, like everyone else. Well. Our National Nightmare Is OVER!!!! CELEBRATE!!!!!

Barack Hussein Obama Wins Historic Election; Will Become 44th President of The United States of America

I am sure that Sen. Obama (President Elect) will be a wonderful President, which is why I not only voted for him but volunteered for him since April, 2007! Yes, I have believed in this man for a long time. For me, this is not a racial issue, although I am aware of the historical status of this election and hope that it is a turning point for America. In fact, I believe his election is proof America has turned the corner on on race Note that TURNED THE CORNER is the operative phrase — I am not claiming that racism is eradicated — get real! People are PEOPLE — they are not SAINTS!!!! This is still a great new territory to be in!

Thanks, WW — They are just introducing Barack Obama as the 44th ? POTUS. Young children in the White HOUSE!! OMG!!!!!!! THANK GOD

Tom Brokaw: It Makes Feminists Crazy, but Palin Is a Tribute to Women's Movement

Hi Ky (Cool name!) I agree — why are we subjected to Tom B’s pronouncement re: SP’s nomination as a Tribute to the Women’s Movement. What Cred does J. Reed have on this issue anyway? She is a woman — so???? Tom B says X to a Woman/ investor on this site, so it is passed along as gospel… . That’s what is insulting. Did she run this by Gloria S???? Of course not because she knows what GS would say. We should ALL be saying (and most of us are, in one form or another): Julia, Tom etc — This is CRAP: SARAH PALIN’S CANDIDACY IS AN INSULT TO THINKING WOMEN AND THOSE OF YOU WHO LACK THE GUTS TO SAY OTHERWISE, ESP. JOURNALISTS, ARE PANDERING
