As a matter of fact, John McCain is and always has been against the torture of any enemy combatants by the U.S. This has been one issue in which he is in disagreement with his party.

He is the one who used all these issues as a hammer over the electorate throughout the primaries. He is the one who, conveniently, recently pulled the plug on his program to encourage low income HS students to stay in school and aim for college. (I suppose it no longer was of benefit to him or his advancement.) All of these issues were mere props to him. They were the basis for his candidacy, but what he ever did to realize results is a mystery to me. I suppose his disposable income now goes toward hush money and a few extra mortgages in California.

Why do Americans love to see themselves as socially unenlightened neanderthals because we have a care about the issue and don’t want our public figures chasing skirt like alley cats. I, for one, only want to use France as a role model in one area - and that would be in their use of nuclear power. Oh, yes, and I like their cheese.

I worry alot more about Barack Obama’s lack of experience than I worry about John McCain’s age.

Skype is great for certain uses, but I would never get rid of a land line and depend on Skype exclusively. To rely on an internet connection and electricity in the event of an emergency seems foolhardy.

All of this criticism of the Obama New Yorker cover is getting old. Don’t you think this current love-fest by the mainstream media surrounding Obama’s visit abroad more than makes up for a little satire? Lighten up, people! Yes, Ann Coulter is obnoxious and all that. So are lots of political personalities. If her words on this website is so abhorrent to you, don’t read them. I frequently bypass some of the writers on this site who will give me indigestion. It would never occur to me to call for their exclusion from this website. What country is this, anyway?
