I never read the word "mandatory" anywhere in this article. Incentives, maybe, but then there were incentives with the peace corps toward college fees when President Kennedy began that program. There are incentives developing now in various states/ communities for youth groups performing community service. It’s an awareness to our young people that the world does not revolve around them, there are others on this planet who have needs, also. It’s an awareness that hopefully will surpass ego. As a teacher,we begin teaching our youth responsibility and care for others in kindergarten. Student Council and other youth groups are not mandatory, either, but there are incentives to belong to these organizations while in school. Those who complain about this effort by Mrs. Obama are the same who will complain about ANYTHING this first family does. We ALL get it… you hate the Obamas. Okay- it’s getting really old and tedious.

She needs to include an inflated, dysfunctional ego, living off other people’s generosity since she has squandered away most of her own income, and the person of interest must be able to duck flying objects. Its’ pathetic.

Good for her! Don’t forget to share some around to worthy organizations! You’ll be blessed in heaven for that.

There’s GOT to be more to this story. It is too bizarre to just stand as  reported. This  woman is a mother of a five year old, a playmate of Sandra’s.  I believe more detail (motive?) or an accomplice will come to light.

These celebrities rely on others to handle their finances, so many get fleeced without knowing it until it’s too late. Who’s to say if that happened in this case or if she just didn’t manage her money. Hey, it’s life- face the music and handle it, Dionne.

Perhaps people will begin to follow her effort and return to the "days gone by" in family gardening. I began a garden again, after a 10 year lapse, last summer. It is very calming and therapeutic not to mention cost effective. The produce/ herbs coming from your own backyard taste SO much better.

Excuse me, Dear, we TOLERATE other cultures? I for one respect them as long as they live here abiding by our laws. Tolerate sounds so offensive. Send all persons with Asian names too common back to their homeland? My solution is to handle it with dignity and respect through the legalization department of our justice system.  Oh, but people like you and Ms. Brown would rather demean other cultures.
